If Toulouse have enquired about Welsh, is it a no, or see what they offer, nothing to lose, unless we accept and lose Welsh, £15-20million thanks.

I think Welsh could start for us after the year is out. Letting him go would be a mistake.

Loan would be ideal for him.

Don’t get the anti Welsh brigade on this site! He was a young guy thrown into an under performing team with a poor manager. Don’t remember him being personally responsible for any disasters that didn’t involve the more experienced people around him. We’ve paid a lot of money for people no where near as good as him.

{Ed007's Note - Welsh is seen by scouts etc as good enough to play in Serie A, Ligue 1 and England but not good enough to be in the Celtic squad, I don't understand it myself.}

Can't they just take back Julien. Welsh could develop into a very good solid player for us.

{Ed007's Note - They were scouting Jullien and Welsh caught their eye so they decided to go for Welsh.}

I believe Welsh could be a future captain for our club. I posted as much last week. If he is going to be the 4th choice CB, a loan to The French or Italian league with no option to buy could be a brilliant move for his development. But leaves us a man short. Could pay off big time having a longer view on the situation if he is only going to be cover.

{Ed007's Note - I keep saying to Mikey that Welsh is a potential future captain.}

If for some reason Julian doesn't leave then maybe sending Welsh out on loan is something we should be looking at, I said last year he should have went out in January as he wasn't going to get the minutes he needs, no point keeping him as 4th choice, the lad needs playing time.

Welsh is a good defender but when he is left on the ball that’s where he falls down he always plays the safe square ball and I think that let's teams get behind the ball and makes it harder to play foward if he was a bit more positive when he gets it and plays foward quickly he would be a cracker imo . Teams that play against us like to leave him on the ball for that reason I would like to see him trying to be more positive.

{Ed007's Note - Is that maybe down to needing to build up his own confidence, Mick and maybe rather than risk making a mistake he takes the easy & safe option? Ange rates Welsh so there must be something there and who knows what could happen if he gets a run in the team. This time last year we were raging because Ralston got a years contract.}

I must admit I see more Ralston as more of a captain but I think Welsh could be a huge asset moving forward. I rate him higher than julien who cost us the best part of 8 million I believe.

Keep Welsh we'll need him, simples.

I think the best thing for guys like Welsh might be to go abroad on loan for a season because our fans are so critical of our own youth prospects. Admittedly, I'm guilty of it myself at times.

What happens if ccv and another cb gets injured who do we play.

25 Jul 2022 08:10:01
That could be exactly what it is Ed . I stand by what I said the lad could be a cracker if he improved this side of his game because defensively I think he has got all the attributes needed to be a good player.

{Ed007's Note - ?

25 Jul 2022 15:51:59
I would keep Welsh, he’s a good squad player and if he improves then maybe a regular. He isn’t there just now but could make a step up.

25 Jul 2022 17:45:08
Welsh is (potentially) too good to let go just now. HH.

26 Jul 2022 12:35:36
I don't think we'll be looking to move Welsh on due to the Champions League quotas about home grown players. For that reason alone I think it would be poor business. The jury is out on him long term for me but he's one of the more promising young players we've had come through since KT.
