Seen a few posts about Celtic being finished this window in terms of signings.

I can see another 2/ 3 coming In.

Agree0 Disagree0

We need another striker and a winger. Forrest or Johnstone aren’t at it and if both Kyogo and Gio are out we are struggling. I would like another CB too, but that won’t happen. Or the others probably. Although, I have the same feeling that Ange will think he needs a couple more after that second half display that showed a drastic dip in class.

22 Jul 2022 13:35:06
To be fair your not going to make 10 changes when the season starts, we will have a really strong bench when the real stuff starts.

22 Jul 2022 13:45:13
We are now I think going to see if anyone makes a play for our players then cover that if need be. If Ajeti goes could see a loan move come in for squad depth but apart from that we are done I think.

22 Jul 2022 14:14:49
Personal opinion we might sneak a couple in especially if ajeti and julien go, that frees up 2 big wages, and hopefully Kenny pushes on for that 3rd striker position, maybe another wide could help us.

22 Jul 2022 14:20:49
Thought we were finished. Just seen Ange on sky saying he expects a few comings and goings in the next 3 weeks.

22 Jul 2022 14:23:58
Are we still wanting Kenny as 3rd striker? Geez we must win the league again to continue our CL adventure. Across the road they are making good signings and clearing players that have done a job. They still have buffalo, sakala and this new guy as striking options. They are putting their cash where there mouth is. Yes we've spent a few Bob, but grow a set of balls and sign a striker to compete with our first 2 and get another league title. If we go with Kenny then complacency has set in. Push the boat out.

{Ed007's Note - Who would you recommend we sign that will be happy to be 3rd choice and possibly get very little game time?
"They are making good signings"..... ?????? aye ok then.}

22 Jul 2022 15:11:42
This is what I mean by complacency! We are bringing in a young lad from South America that we don't know will settle- I reckon Taylor will still be first pick by next window. A CH that is unknown. A 3rd Choice striker isn't a 3rd choice striker- it's competition for gg a kyogo. Do we want to go Into this season with only 2 centre forwards?

22 Jul 2022 15:48:01
They will be rotated as he does with the midfield and then it’s up to each to fight it out. We can’t rely on Kenny, he will be out on loan soon, if not this window then January. No idea why we sign these lads who are nowhere near what we need if we want to improve in Europe. Pointless.

{Ed007's Note - Who'll be rotated the strikers? If we don't have any injuries we will start with Kyogo or Gio depending on the opposition with the other one being on the bench to come on. I can't think of any team who plays with one striker who have 3 players realistically challenging for the starting spot.
The 3rd choice striker is usually either a youngster or a veteran, no decent striker worth their salt and in their prime are going to sign to be 3rd choice and hope that they get a sniff of a game through injury/suspension unless they're only interested in the money.
So we should keep Bain in case Hart and Siegrist get injured - I guess Tobi isn't good enough for you either - what about another RB incase JJ gets injured and Ralston loses form, or another LB incase Bernabie, Taylor and JJ get injured?
Football squads aren't built on just panicking over what ifs.}

22 Jul 2022 15:54:56
I don’t think any player we sign nowadays is an “Unknown”. I assume the Bernabei signing is directly linked to Lawwell Jr in some way. Giaka n Kyogo if fit will score 20+.

I think we need a winger that can play across the front 3. I was hoping for Solbakken but he’s away to Napoli.
I assume that’s the area we are looking at and there will be some younger editions.

I think we could do with a out and out tall Attacking Mid with pace.

Jullien will be offski and Ajeti hopefully. Urhoghide looks like he will be away too. Maybe another couple cut from the squad that aren’t going to feature.

22 Jul 2022 16:37:28
Which of their signings are good exactly?
Lawrence has been rotting in the championship for years and just been relegated as well as being a scumbag. Matondo couldn't get a game for stoke.
and a 28 yo striker on his 12th club.

{Ed007's Note - Don't forget Ben Davies who if Celtic wanted to sign they would have. Davies move to Liverpool just shows as well what can happen if you stockpile players to cover injuries, he made a packet out of the move but at what cost to his career, a year wasted, a year on loan in The Championship and now he's ended up at Ibrox his 9th club and he's only 26 ffs and has played 23 games in the last 2 years.
Oh and they signed John Souttar ???? yeah THAT John Souttar, you'd be better off with Soapy from the Oor Wullie books!

22 Jul 2022 16:43:22
Cmon Ed don't be so naive. We shouldn't be looking to sign a striker that will play 3rd fiddle. We should be pushing boat out to sign a striker who has the balls to compete with kyogo and gg and establish himself as a 30 goal SPL stirker- why are we wanting to standstill? Kyogo will go to PL next summer and We need to keep ahead of the game.

{Ed007's Note - It's not naivety it's realistic facts, maybe Kenny has the balls to compete? So who would you recommend we sign that knows he is coming in and has to displace not one but 2 players in front of him, one is already a hero to the fans and the other one was the top scorer in the league? The 3rd striker is usually a kid learning his way or a veteran that's doesn't mind being the back up, like Defoe's role at OFFC.
Look at Gabriel Jesus, he left Man City because he didn't want to be behind Haaland and Alvarez in the pecking order.
As I said, any striker in and around their prime & worth their salt isn't going to be happy waiting for injuries/suspensions to get any game time.
Here's a question, why do you think we never made a move for Baby Larsson, why did we never even ask the question?}

22 Jul 2022 16:50:38
mally i've a feeling both julien and ajeti will still be here as no one will pay what we do in wages, unless we give them away or pay a % of the wage.

22 Jul 2022 16:58:11
Barring Rogic (and maybe Bitton at a push) we've kept our league winning side and added in positions we've needed to. They've sold their best 2 players and downgraded on their replacements.

22 Jul 2022 18:34:00
Kyogo will be 28 next year, which English club is buying him?

{Ed007's Note - I thought it was best to just gloss over that bit lol.}

22 Jul 2022 19:01:05
If we never give the youngsters a chance, how will we ever know if they can make the grade?

22 Jul 2022 19:06:02
If Johnston is loaned out if jullien is loaned or sold same with Ajeti

Replacements for squad depth would be Jenz for Jullien

Ajeti could be kenny or Maeda could play as ST

Johnston goes could Vata step up l would like to think there are your cover right there its a long old season and we might need Forrest back up so one wee cheeky winger could that be looked at.

22 Jul 2022 19:37:24
I think what he is getting at is we don’t want squad players to come in and be happy to play 2nd fiddle to anyone he wants players to come in that think there good enough to play and want to play every week not be happy with limited playing time.

{Ed007's Note - But that's what a 3rd choice striker is going to be doing at Celtic. Maybe we've already got the player you describe in young Kenny?
A big part of transfer negotiations is down to gametime, players want to know how much they are going to be used and some even have gentleman agreements with the manager about it, what is a striker going to say when he asks about game time and the answer is well if Kyogo or Gio are injured etc you'll be sub, if both of them are injured you'll be first choice and if they're fit you'll be lucky to make the bench, that's the reality of the situation.}

22 Jul 2022 19:58:07
With the squad we have at the mo, we should have quite a few league games that SHOULD be done early in the second half. If we can’t blood a few young ones in those circumstances, you might as well shut the academy and get rid of all the youth teams because there is no point in having them. Could put about £ 10 million towards our 3rd choice striker ?‍?.

{Ed007's Note - Ange might even look at it that Maeda and Abada can cover in there.}

23 Jul 2022 10:32:09
The issue isn’t giving youngsters a chance. We did it with KT, the issue is they are never good enough. We produce nothing of real class apart from once in a decade. That is an absolutely shocking return. I am all for giving young players a chance, but they need to be good enough. Once they are they will play. The problem is they aren’t far too often. There should be zero sentimentality, we are Glasgow Celtic and you are either good enough or you aren’t. When I was young I was a good player and if I could accept I wasn’t good enough to play for us then I’m effin sure I can extend that to everyone. All over Europe there are young players holding their own. We just need to find them here.

23 Jul 2022 10:40:30
We weee fortunate when Kyogo got injured Gio took over. If both of them are out we are in trouble. The way Ange wants us to play means the three strikers would get time and from there it’s up to each to earn the jersey.

{Ed007's Note - There's that word "if" again, if your aunty had baws and all that eh? We weren't fortunate that Gio took over, that's why we bought him, it was planned not fortunate.
And we won a double last season with 2 strikers in the squad so I have no idea how you work oy that because of the way Ange plays 3 would get game time without injuries/suspension.}

23 Jul 2022 22:56:47
And where do you stop with that? Say we get a 3rd striker will you then say "what if all 3 are injured let's get a 4th". Do we sign another rb just incase jj and Ralston get injured. From what I've seen of Kenny he's good enough to fill in if needed. Maeda and abada can play there so that seems like plenty of depth to me.

{Ed007's Note - That's what I've been saying, do we sign another 10 players in case of injuries? We need to be realistic with the balance of the the squad, the wagebill & expectations of potential signings.}
