It's disappointing that both Ajeti and Barkas are only going out on loan as it would be better to permanently get-shot of all surplus; getting whatever cash we can to boost funds. However, I suppose neither of them done nearly enough at Celtic to merit a serious bid.

Lewis Ferguson has scored 6 goals against Celtic in only the last 3 seasons.
I can’t think of any other player who is close to that number.
Lewis has scored 7 goals altogether against Celtic because he also scored in our 4-3 victory at Pittodrie in December 2018.

Lewis Ferguson is an absolute no brainer. His physicality work rate and goal threat would be ideal in our midfield. I find it strange we are being linked with the lad Connor Barron from Aberdeen when Ferguson is streets ahead of him.

I've said it many times, Lewis Ferguson should be our 'go to' guy if he's interested in coming. The fee will be neither here nor there if his heart is in it, and playing for Celtic will give him the chance to show what he can do and then get a really big move down south in a couple of years time. Again I'm obviously in minority of views / opinions on him.
Stats are just that.
All about opinions. I don't rate him as an outstanding player. He looks good at times when playing in a very poor Aberdeen side.
If Celtic were serious about signing him I'm fairly confident we would have heard about it.

{Ed007's Note - Lewis Ferguson is already a better more rounded player than Barry ever was, Barry was a very accomplished CDM whereas Lewis can play CDM and do the box to box job as well and is a bigger goal threat.
Barry's stats seem to be a bit contradictory depending where you look but according to Transfermarkt he played 469 professional games and scored 48 goals by the time he retired, Lewis has already scored 37 goals in 185 games - and wasn't Barry their penalty taker as well?
You can't compare the two as they are completely different types of footballer. Lewis Ferguson is the best young Scottish midfielder since McGinn and one of the top young talents in the country with a Hell of a lot more experience than 22-year olds in our squad. Celtic should always be looking to sign the best Scottish talent - even for the homegrown rule - and if they aren't then it's a dereliction of duty.
Remember the Ferguson camp were RAGING that Aberdeen turned down a £2 million bid from Watford last summer after the promises that were made to them and considering Ferguson is one of the lowest paid first team players at Pittodrie and IF Celtic and Ferguson both wanted the move I'd be amazed if he cost us more then £3 -£4 million.}

I have to disagree mate I'd say b Ferguson was similar in style to mcstay although Lewis is a good young player he's nowhere near his uncle b Ferguson would walk into any Celtic or rangers team of the last 20+ years I'd doubt Lewis would get a game for both current teams in terms of all rounder b Ferguson wins tackling passing control set pieces I've no doubt David Turnbull will have more career goals than Callum McGregor and he can play DM but he's never on McGregor levels but is levels above Lewis.

I'd compare Barry more to a Roy Keane type of player, McStay was different gravy and could do it all in midfield, not even Scholes could do what McStay done as an all rounder as his defending/tackling like McGregor was atrocious.
I like Barry (and his extended family) as a person and respect him as a player - I hate the wee tadger for being an ex-Rangers player though - but he was never a fully rounded midfielder that could defend, create and score goals from midfield, Lewis has proven at least at SPFL level that he can do the lot, similar to McStay imo.}

{Ed007's Note - They definitely carried themselves the same way with a bit of quiet swagger, I'd say that Ferguson and McStay could have easily played in the same midfield, Barry doing the "dirty" work with an eye for a pass and McStay being the Maestro and running the midfield knowing Barry was covering and backing him up. Imagine those 2 as your 2 in a 4-2-3-1 ?

I agree in parts with what Ed has said regarding signing an enforcer type midfielder however Lewis Ferguson is not the one for me.

Regarding signing young Scottish talent. When was the last time we signed one of them?
We were constantly being linked with
Ali McCann (St Johnstone at time) , Josh Doig (Hibs) , Ramsey (Aberdeen) and others.
If my serves me right many fans were screaming for us to sign Ali McCann and we didn't.
I honestly don't think that Celtic will sign any Scottish based player young or old unless they are exceptional and could start for 1st time. The reason I don't think this will happen is that due to C.V. losses etc they will not want to be giving transfer fees to prop up another Scottish club. as I said unless player is exceptional.
I maybe wrong but time will tell.
