Looks like Matt Doherty is coming on loan, right back is his only position, It kinda makes sense as Ange prefers juranovic on the left. He is way above anything else we have.

Agree0 Disagree0

If that’s true then I don’t understand it tbh. Other positions to strengthen than at right back.

30 Dec 2021 22:40:23
Really way above? Not so sure about that.

30 Dec 2021 23:03:37
I don’t see that as a Ange player but a player the board want if it goes through.

{Ed007's Note - Good to hear, Like CVV, Starfelt, Shaw, McCarthy, Jota, Juranovic, Joe Hart etc etc weren't Ange signings - Ange only knows players from Japan remember lol he's never watched any other football.
signings shouldn't be down to Amge and if they are we're going down a very dangerous path AGAIN.}

31 Dec 2021 00:04:43
How would that be going down a dangerous path? A manager should always have a say in signings weather he sees the player fit for purpose in his squad or not. If it happens and I was Ralston I’d feel very hard done by. Yes it adds depth but what kind of wage is he on? Free up that wage for a player who we need in another position is my opinion. Each to their own!

{Ed007's Note - Look where we ended up when we put all our eggs in the Rodgers basket and that was with Pedro overlooking everything - what happens if we don't win the league and the board decide to get rid of Ange, what if Ange decides in the summer the SPFL isn't for him regardless of us winning the league?
Ange's job should be training/coaching with an input on transfers, where's the long term planning in relying on players Ange knows, if he does leave and the new coach totally changes the system what happens to Ange's signings?
The same problems we've had for years behind the scenes are still there but nobody wants to talk about them - they only get brought up when the team are struggling like Lennon's tenure last season.}

Ed I agree with you but that's not the model the board seem to want to adopt. Their refusal to modernise the club is baffling.

{Ed007's Note - It's a dereliction of duty, BB and once again because the football is good and we've won a cup etc we can't talk about the elephant in the room. It happened with Lawwell and if you brought it up you were accused of moaning, the old "we're winning Trebles ffs" line etc was trotted out, how did that turn out?
Exactly how I said it would for years when the wheels fell off.}

Your touching on other topics here. I’m saying I personally think that another right back isn’t what’s needed and especially one who’ll be on a hefty wage. There’s more to been a manager than just training and coaching and that’s what I said Ange should have a say which is a input on transfers and at Celtic you don’t get much of a say do you? Lennon got told he had to work with what back room staff he had and seems like Ange has to as well. I don’t know what Doherty will add to the team that we don’t already have if the rumour is true! Look at Spurs Levy makes the transfers calls and how many managers and trophies have they won? Good managers should always have a input on transfer and at Celtic sometimes it seems that’s not the case and that’s why I said that isn’t a Ange player as in type of player but nevertheless he’ll probably be happy as it’s another body to work with.

{Ed007's Note - How is Doherty not "an Ange player" though, because he's Irish, because he doesn't come from the J-League? How many of the 12(?) signings we made in the summer were Ange players, Kyogo?
At most top clubs managers have very little input in transfers and probably only on first team signings at that. Spurs have Fabio Paratici - who is MD of Football or similar job title - think about this, how come clubs like Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG etc etc even Ajax don't fall apart every time they change manager/coach, because the manager is only a cog in a very big wheel. They don't put all their eggs in one managers basket, look how that worked out for Arsenal when Wegner left, look at the state of Man Utd because they are being ran the exact same way as Celtic with no real structure and no real long term outlook although that will probably change now that Rangnick's there.
How's this for a scenario, during talks over CVV it would be a dereliction of duty if new CEO Michael Nicholson didn't ask Spurs who they have available in January, maybe Nicholson's came back with that list and asked Ange if he fancies any of them and Doherty is "one" ???? that caught Ange's eye, like Juranovic he can play on either side and further forward.
Maybe Doherty's good friend Joe Hart recommended/vouched for him, maybe more of Hart's friends fancy a move to Celtic but no matter who comes in they will ALL be Ange's choice.}

?I wonder if you will get a bite Ed.
?.

{Ed007's Note - I wasn't fishing, Harry - ask Paul - I'm deadly serious about this.}

31 Dec 2021 11:29:46
Ed, may I ask that you take care when referencing the name 'Pedro'.

I know you're referring to Lawwell but some of the Bhoys on here might think you're talking about me ?

☘ ? ☘.

{Ed007's Note - ?? You're not getting away with it that easy, you need to shoulder some of the blame.}

31 Dec 2021 12:44:13
