I mentioned a while back about our next DOF being Fergal Harkin, I have since been informed we have held talks with 4 different candidates who have also let the club know there preferred head coach as part of this new setup.

TBH i was quite shocked with number one, but i would be happy with any of the choices.

1. Ralf Rangnick - Free
(Jesse Marsch - Salzburg)

2. Fergal Harkin - Man City
(Enzo Maresca - Man City u23's)

3. Matteo Tognozzi - Juve
(Jindřich Tripišovský - Slavia Prague)

4. David Webb - Free
(Eddie Howe - Previously Bouremonth)

Agree1 Disagree0

That sounds great Number 1 for me then Number 3 if not but that would be great but I think a lot of money would have to go with those pairings.

27 Feb 2021 11:10:54
Just to add Tripišovský was brought to Tognozzi's attention by no other than Pavel Nedved.

Nedved rates his fellow country man very very highly and see's him doing big things in the game.

Just incase anyone is wondering why this would be his choice.

As much as I would love this all to be true, it is not backed up by evidence, other than you claiming to be in the know, which I strongly doubt.

Whatever discussions are happening behind the scenes will remain secret. We won't know until someone slips up or we make an announcement.

I just hope LaW the appointments will be made sooner rather than later.

27 Feb 2021 11:45:43
Yeah heard this type of chat the last time and we ended up with Lennon. I hope it's true but will believe it when I see it.

27 Feb 2021 11:49:49
Agree with LAW here. But 1 would be the move every fan would want given the choice.

27 Feb 2021 12:41:17
Kinghenrik, can you give us an insight into how reliable your information source is?

27 Feb 2021 12:50:20
IF kinghenriks info is accuarate which is highly unlikely but I'll play along anyway;-

* Man Itd are said to be interested in Tognozzi therefore, that's a non starter
* Ralf may be out of our reach and our imagination but he'd be my No.1 choice by a country mile
* David Webb would be No.2 along with Howe
* Fergal - No.3 (last) unsure of him and not keen on an U23 coach

I'm not convinced we should go for an untried Manager.

27 Feb 2021 13:12:31
@Tony, I think we all want the decision to be made ASAP, so fingers crossed we hear something soon.

27 Feb 2021 13:52:13
So we will end up with Jock Brown and Jack Ross then.

27 Feb 2021 14:41:37
Pedro I'm the same, i feel a proven manager needs to be brought in, all this Lampard talk is nonsense. yeah it worked for sevco but they had time on their side to build and that gave slippy a couples of years to play with, Lampard or any other unproven manager won't be given that amount of time, no manager will, so needs to be someone that can hit the ground running and get the team firing as early as possible.

27 Feb 2021 14:52:36
You forgot strachan, with Kennedy as the coach .
Wouldn’t be surprised to see the cheaper option out of the other four, although I’d prefer any of them to the cheap option .

27 Feb 2021 19:44:18
I can’t see it being that easy but I think all off them look good but most off the chat is they want a experience coach and team, in my eyes that’s number 2 out, a undertaker 21s coach and a loan manager.

28 Feb 2021 11:07:54
@Pedro, my source just passes on information with the view of not 100%, some which spot on but also some of which doesn’t happen one way or another.

I see that some people are not to keen on Harkin and Maresca.

This guy has been at Man City for over 10 years and a DoF role would be the next step in his career so I wouldn't just write him off because it's not what he has done before.

As for Maresca basically the same as Harkin, he's been assistant manager to Pelligerini for years, then moved to the Man City (EDS) as head coach.
In the grand scheme of things that is still a big job and his playing style has seen them hammer some English LG1 and LG2 teams.
A first team head coach job would be his next move.

28 Feb 2021 17:29:58
Accepted, fair points kinghenrik.
Like the rest of the lads on here, we can only hope and pray DD takes on the job of appointing a D. O. F. and then a manager as he hasn't failed us yet and oh, I want the title back!

We are now going from waiting an age for our board to make the right decision. Now we are waiting for them to make any decision in time. I think waiting until the summer, with the overhaul we need, will be too late for the CL, no change there. The opportunity to compete in the CL is a major plus, not to give us a hope as has been our way for years, won't wash with a good manager and it shouldn't. 75% failure rate is horrendously inept management. Time for a change.
