The talk of players wages and capping them at £2500 per month is very interesting. Why not? Maybe these dark days will make us all reconsider the celebrity culture we have embraced whatever a celebrity is and remind players especially the EPL overpaid Prima Donnas who the real hero's are namely the brave men and women in the NHS who are risking their lives to save yours and mine. Greater love hath no man than he lays down his life for his friends.

I remember wondering 20 years ago when my mother died in hospital and I saw first hand what nurses do why my accountant was being paid £100,000 for looking after my money and nurses where being paid £20,000 for looking after my mother.

Don't think I've ever had an answer to that other than it telling me where society's priorities lie.

Keep them in your prayers.

It's always the workers who pull through a tough situation. At the end of this mess who will the heroes be? The Billionaire CEOs? Or will it be the Hospital staff, care home workers, bus drivers, shelf stackers and delivery drivers?

Every now and then we need something to bring us back down to earth.

26 Mar 2020 14:03:05
I totally agree with what Lou Macari says in today's paper about premier League players digging into their pockets and donating money to the fight against the virus,

27 Mar 2020 17:25:43
We also need the fans to dig deep for their teams as well as the nhs. I see Stirling Albion raised £20k in 36 hours to help save their club. Fair play.

29 Mar 2020 00:32:14
I would run through brick walls if I could for 2.5k per week. Once I earned this probably wouldn't the next time lol.

I think we need to all (the whole world) : rethink things, forget about this ten in a row rubbish, itz meaningless, (that for all these ten in a row obsessed headbangers who think this ten in a row team (potentially) , is better than the Lisbon lions,

This corovirus will go on a long time, and a lot of people we know will die, well I might die and you might die, when my mother was growing up in he west of ireland, she said in every house, in every village, someone would die of TB, the more things change, the more they are the same.

Cheer up man this thing will peak and life will get back to normal. and 10 iar hopefully will happen it's not pish it's about making history.

The Lisbon Lions won every honour they entered in ‘67 and that will never be repeated in Scotland. The Lisbon Lions will still go down in our history as our greatest team ever because they brought the big cup home.
This current squad have had a domestic invincible season. They have won a Treble Treble and counting. They will eventually win 10 In A Row and for me personally I will put them up there with the Lisbon Lions because they will eventually be the most successful squad in our history and the most successful that I have witnessed.
If that makes me an obsessive headbanger then so be it.

{Ed007's Note - How can you put the amount of players that will have contributed to the 10 in a row in the same bracket as a team that won a EC?
The current squad don't have a Treble Treble, the current squad doesn't have 8 leagues in a row and the current squad didn't have an invincible season.}

29 Mar 2020 15:15:08
The Lisbon Lions was only 11 players and they only played one game together after Lisbon against Clyde.
There are plenty of players in that era we class as Lisbon Lions because they all deserve the credit and not only 11 players. They won 9 titles in a row and also reached 20 domestic finals out of 21 In that era.
It’s similar to when I’m referring to the squad of players who have contributed to our most successful period in our history.
I am not taking anything away from the Lisbon Lions, far from it. I am only giving praise to all the players who have got us to where we are.

{Ed007's Note - If the Lisbon Lions won 9 titles in a row why does Bertie Auld only have 6 Championship medals? So who are the plenty of players that are classed as Lisbon Lions who didn't win the EC because I've never heard that in my life before.}

29 Mar 2020 15:41:24
There are players who have medals who never played in Lisbon.
They went to all the reunions John Hughes, Joe McBride and Wullie O Neill showed me his own medal when he worked in Bairds.

{Ed007's Note - And Charlie Gallacher played in a couple of games as well so they were part of the squad that season. Who are theses plenty of players in that era that are classed as Lions, are you seriously saying that there are players out there that weren't at Celtic in season 66/67 that are classed as Lisbon Lions by people?}

29 Mar 2020 16:05:14
Okay Ed. I liked to call the 9 in a row legends the Lisbon lions because it was before my time although I clearly knew that wasn’t the case but I gave them a label because of that great achievement.
My grandkids will look at someone like Forrest who will win the full 10 titles the same way as Christie who didn’t win the full 10.The same as I look at Auld who only won 6 titles the same as I look at Billy McNeill who won the full 9 titles.
It’s not a big deal.

{Ed007's Note - The original nine in a row has absolutely nothing to do with the Lisbon Lions apart from some of them were part of both achievements - it's not a matter of opinion.}

29 Mar 2020 16:27:53
I can see why calling other players Lisbon Lions would annoy some people because it is not true. I didn’t think it was a big deal but from now on I will only refer to the Lisbon Lions as the players mentioned above plus the guys who played in Lisbon. 👍.

{Ed007's Note - It's not annoying, it's just wrong. So when do we stop saying that this squad has won a Treble Treble and had an invincible season?}

29 Mar 2020 16:40:39
Am with you ed the lions were named because that wonderful afternoon in Lisbon and 11 players.

{Ed007's Note - Exactly, the clue's in the name.}

29 Mar 2020 18:30:47
Ed. that's like saying 50 years ago Auld only won 6 titles but didn’t win the full 9 titles. He has always been classed as a 9 in a row winner. Which he is.
In 50 years time it will be the same. It will be players remembered for winning 10 in a row or whatever it may be and there will be players remembered for winning or playing a part in winning a Treble Treble.

{Ed007's Note - Hahahaha in 50 years time maybe James Forrest will be called a Lisbon Lion as well then eh? In fact I've just decided that he is, if you can award Bertie Auld league winners medals for titles he never won and praise players for things they had nothing to do with then it's only fair that I can award James Forrest a EC winners medal.}

30 Mar 2020 02:03:34
The Lisbon Lions are the players that got them to Lisbon as well the ones that played there, am I the only sane person here?

30 Mar 2020 07:52:45
Where you the only sane person when you wanted to send Brown out on loan and build a team around Kouassi and Bayo and replace an overrated Forster with 37 year old Gordon.

31 Mar 2020 12:52:20
Yes, I would have sent Brown anywhere to get him off the first team, but I would have built the team round McGregor and Christie, and Forster is vastly over rated.

04 Apr 2020 09:53:45
@aindoh are you NUTS Big Frazer is a great goalkeeper did you watch the league Cup final he single handed won us the cup.

19 Apr 2020 17:27:09
Forster is the best goalie we've had since boruc the big man has saved us countless times in Europe this year and in the cup final was something special.
