Different rules in Scotland than in Europe . Arsenal player put his arm on PSG defender's back and went on to score . No way could a Celtic attacker even think about doing same without the loyal Scottish referee giving a free to h. ns .
Many Celtic fans can't wait until they get K Tieney back in Celtic colours, but are we not aiming too low .
Last night with a place in Champions league final awaiting K T didn't make it off bench on to pitch . Surely if he isn't good enough for Champions League semi final, he isn't a player to push us to further success.

The pen last night was an absolute joke and seen us get punished with similar incidents.

Celtic haven’t won a knockout tie after Christmas in the last 21 years.
Getting a squad player from a Semi Final team must be a step forward.

Our targets and ambitions are hampered by several factors.
The location and standard of league we play in, the pittance of crumbs SLY scrape off their golden platter, the wage cap relevant to the budget we operate and quality players in our price range that are not snapped up by teams in the 'bigger', richer leagues. We also do not have billionaire owners with blank cheques.
Add to that the biased hurdles and hindrances we face domestically along with the need to qualify for Europe and it all adds up.
I count myself very, very lucky to have seen Celtic in three European finals, as the chances of any more look unlikely all things considered. Although we believe Celtic are and always will be a top club, we are at a huge disadvantage in European terms.

Celtic may not have won a knock -out in 21 yrs but at the same time they haven’t loss many .
I supposed things are improving with Tierney, he attended Arsenal ‘s game last night unlike the last European game Celtic played when he was still a Celtic player and he disappeared that night down to London to sign his money making but almost career ending contract .
Don’t get too worked up, with my comments about our left back in waiting, as I am making them with my tongue firmly in my cheek .
The gap between top teams in the top 5 European League and the rest of us immortals is growing season by season . Apart from the odd shock result the top league teams have everything going for them .
Take them out and the rest of us hasn’t found any way of even accumulating half the money they do.

Keeping KT fit to push us to further success will be a success itself.

On a realistic note for European competition the five top wage bills for European clubs are :-
1. PSG - £553m
2. Manchester City - £465m
3. Real Madrid - £424m
4. Barcelona - £400m
5. Liverpool - £377m
Celtic currently spend £23.4m per year on wages, that's 1/ 19th of PSG budget.
Rangers have a similar wage budget to ourselves £22.3m with Hibs 3rd at £6.4m which is like 1/ 4 of our budget, St Mirren lowest on £2.5m, which is like 1/ 9 of our budget, so in monetary value St Mirren have twice as much chance of winning the SPL as we have of winning the Champions League, based on budget alone.
Thus we can never really say we are at a disadvantage to European clubs when majority of scotland are at a disadvantage to ourselves! Until MLS style rules (salary caps) are introduced on a wide scale than fairness of football will never exist!
{Ed007's Note - I don't know where you're getting the wage bill figures from but according to the last accounts Celtic's annual wage bill was £65.6m (up from £60.8m) and the TRIFC wage bill was £61.1m (down from £64m) although it's not clear if that is their club, company or both combined.}

It was from capology. com Ed, Salarysport. com had us lower than Gers. I think this is simply playing squad wage bill figures.

The playing squad wage wage is not relevant as far as keeping within UEFA rules re wages . UEFA rules take in all Football related expenses, which cannot exceed 70% of our football related income .
So far so good for Celtic, with our bigger stadium and continuous Champions league money, we can spend the most in Scottish Football and keep well within our spending limits .
Our most important football target is making sure we qualify for Champions League every season . Our manager must push our Board to have new recruits in and settled before we play Champions League qualifiers and if we are selling players of ability, hold on to them until our Champions League status has been established.
