The club can dress the sale of Kyogo up any way they like but big Sutton is bang on it is proof that their are limits to Celtics champions league ambitions.
He hasn't been playing with the same smile we're used to but is still giving 100% and celebrated in front of us the other night after what should and could have been a European hat trick.
He isn't causing disharmony evidenced by McGregor pleading with him to stay at the club. We have no other recognised proven striker on form at the club anywhere near the quality of Kyogo the joint top scorer in the league.
He is capable of moments of magic particularly had he played in further champions league games while in the shop window. I know he's 30 and hasn't been at his best and I know £10m is a decent fee although apparently that's euros and looks like a swap for Jota. But why not retain his services for the remainder of the season and let him go in the summer he's under contract. If he's worth £10m now he's worth at least £5m-£10m at summer and would have allowed us the best crack at champions league. The league isn't won yet either and the champions league is alive. Says it all about the clubs ambition to me.

Too many fans seem happy with the sale. Just can't get my head around selling one of our best players mid season especially at it seems there's no ready replacement on the horizon.
25 Jan 2025 10:17:59
Hese been asking to leave for a wile now. Maybe if he was refused it this window he would spit the dummy and that’s why hese been allowed to go. Take the money we move on as long as a striker is brought in.

If we never sold him, his form dropped off even more got put out the champions league and somehow by a miracle rangers caught us in the league, every single fan would be screaming that we never accepted the £10m in January.
He’s been average this season and missed so many chances. Time for a new player.
25 Jan 2025 10:21:56
Will be much harder to replace this man than most fans seem to think. I felt his all round ability and vision was under appreciated. His goal scoring prowess was evident but Kyogo is an experienced and skilful player and bringing in a teenager or 22 yrs old replacement is a gamble.
25 Jan 2025 10:26:47
He’s missed far too many sitters this season plus he wanted to go, as Brendan says and as we should all be saying “ if you don’t want to be here you can go”. £12M euros is a good price. Idah will get better with more game time plus I’m looking forward to seeing what Johnny Kenny can do, Hail Hail.

I wish Kyogo all the best good luck to him. He has been asking for a move since the summer I agree with Brendan why keep a player that's not happy? But saying that I think and really hope we have a new striker all lined up for this window, we have had the time to source a new one in the 12 to 16 weeks before this window so for me no excuses as to why we wouldn't bring in one this window.
25 Jan 2025 10:48:05
I think we have to trust Brendan and the recruitment department.
Brendan has stated that the transfer has been in the pipeline for a few months and they have replacement lined up. Now we need to wait and see what they deliver in terms of a replacement.
If Jota comes back and replicates the form from before he left and we get someone who does better than Kyogo, everyone will be saying it was cracking piece of business but we will need to wait and see what happens.

Agree I'd rather Kyogo stayed for the remainder of this season and left in the summer.
Having said that, I'm not convinced BR was his biggest fan and the wee man's goals and demeanor was not the same as in his first two seasons.
At the same time perhaps finances play a part here and Kyogo has forced this move?
☘️ ? ☘️.

The Celtic Board will sign another striker in this window and there’s a fair chance he will be more prolific than Kyogo, from the first half of the season.
25 Jan 2025 11:29:21
I don't know why Sutton is saying that. If Celtic have ambitions to progress further in the champs league consistently than we need better than Kyogo. He misses too many chances and at European level you can't afford that luxury. That said, Celtic need to have already identified someone to come in that's better, as Idah isn't the answer either.

Kyogo’s scoring ratio this season has been consistent with his overall goal ratio under Brendan.
He has a 38% scoring rate this season and 38% overall under Brendan.
Kyogo however had a 65% scoring rate under Ange and if he continued that scoring record under Brendan or even this season,
I don’t think any supporter would want to see him being replaced.

No player is bigger than the club. The rat wanted to leave and we made the correct decision in selling him.
Remember when we blew the 10 and kept players that didn't want to be here. Some fans are making out like we've just sold Maradona.

I loved Kyogo and he got bums off seats, however pretty confident that he wouldn’t be a game changer if we kept him for the Villa game when he would be flying out to sign for Rennes the next morning.
It would also delay the Jota signing. we now have a bit of time to integrate him into the squad ahead of the play off and the same with whatever striker comes in.
As we know through his appearances for Arsenal Tierney is currently fit and I believe we will be stronger by the time the playoffs come if that deal gets completed in time.
Final point in all of this that there is a big chance that not beating Villa may result in an easier draw anyway.
There is also no way we lose the treble because of this.

I thought when you first called Kyogo a rat it was a tongue in cheek comment.
Players and Managers are not rats for leaving because that’s the circle of football or it would become boring.
Please behave because you’re representing our club as a Celtic Supporter.

Ex players are not necessary the best, fairest and impartial judges of why a player chooses to leave us . Most of us myself included regard Sutton as one of our greats, yet he didn’t gather many accolades for the reasons he gave in book for leaving us . He left because WGS wanted whole first team squad to double up training and train twice a day . He said MO’N trusted his senior players to keep themselves fully fit . He spent his afternoons collecting children from school and going to bookies . Collecting his children is laudable but his bookie visits would have played a major role in his bankruptcy.
I M O BR and the Board we have now would have done everything possible to keep Kyogo a bit longer . I think a compromise agreement had been made mths ago that Kyogo could leave when our CL qualification had been achieved, or we were in a position that we could no longer qualify . After three and a half yrs, as far as we could see from outside exemplary behaviour and service Celtic couldn’t break agreement .
Again in my opinion I think Kyogo should have enjoyed the slightly different role under BR, as he was more involved in the game and yet was still on the shoulder of last defender .
I am usually hard on any player for leaving us, but look at how long MO’R and Jota stayed before leaving . Even the player who claimed to be the best ever Celtic supporter KT only stayed as a ist team player a couple of months longer .
I will miss Kyogo, he bought excitement to our play, pity his finishing dropped off a little towards end.

It was and still is buzz but I'm just suprised no one else has said it. Rodgers ange tierney were all called rats and worse on here but kyogo is hailed like he's a God for doing the same as Rodgers and worse than ange and tierney.
Also I don't remember you calling anyone else out for previously calling players and manages rats?
25 Jan 2025 12:27:51
At the end of the day, Kyogo has scored 12 goals all season and only 1 of those came in the Champions League. He's been a great player for us but he's not irreplaceable.
25 Jan 2025 12:36:17
Kyogo is a loss but we have goals coming from virtually everyone in the team. Kyogo out, KT and Jota in- we are definitely stronger. No idea why so many are complaining. Trust in Brendan, I think he knows what he’s doing.
25 Jan 2025 12:42:15
Wish Kyogo all the best. Just remember he wanted to leave. Keep that thought.
25 Jan 2025 16:03:24
Rat DC, that's a bit off. Football has limited shelf life for a player so if he wants a payday and new pastures, I wish him all the best. Good deal for the club as well.
25 Jan 2025 16:38:19
Funny how brendan and ange were rats though 9iar? And if you read my post you will see it is in jest about the double standards from people on here.
25 Jan 2025 16:48:25
Some fail to see Kyogo was more than goals.

Guys. Players are professional footballers. They play for the money, get paid by the club they represent. Also they are ambitious and want to play in the best leagues in the world. Can't blame them for that. I'm Scottish but living in Australia. Would you say the Scottish league is one of the best leagues in the world? Be honest.
