Weejoe has written an article entitled, Is Brendan Rodgers an Egotist?
10 Jan 2025 09:38:46
There’s no doubt that Brendan is proud of his managerial achievements.
He took Swansea to the top division for the first time in nearly 30 years.
Liverpool was a step too far but he still nearly delivered them a title for the first time in decades.
His Celtic domestic record is worth bragging about.
Brendan will soon have won 11 domestic trophies from 12 available, which includes a proper Invincible treble.
Until last week his Derby record was only one defeat from 20 games which was remarkable.
Also winning Leicester their only ever FA Cup is another great achievement from Brendan.
Brendan took the manner of our defeat at Ibrox last week personally and he started looking for an altercation off the pitch.
I don’t know if that was to take the headlines away from his team’s pathetic performance on the pitch.
For whatever reason he turned on the Celtic fans only a few days later, which was strange considering we never had any fans at Ibrox.
Brendan has always received criticism for his poor European record as a Manager but he’s never bit back the way he did after his Ibrox howler.
Celtic are lucky to have Brendan because he’s too good a Manager for the Scottish league.
After a hard last couple of seasons at Leicester,
Maybe he needed that winning feeling at Celtic to make himself feel important again.

He's an excellent manager and normally quite calm at pressers but for whatever reason lost his cool, also on his record he would have delivered Liverpool their first league in over 20 years but for slippy.

I am not disputing his managerial ability as he has a proven track record. I am merely asking, is he an egotist?

Most managers are big jock could also give it out from ti. e to time look at pep and mourinho all egotistical he's not alone.

He is very confident in his own ability and can be aloof from the opinions and feelings of us mere supporters. His domestic (and recent CL) record backs up his ability, but shouldn't distance himself from the Celtic faithful, who many feel are giving him a second chance. Big Jock did praise and appreciate the support, but also believed his ways were superior and decisions were final. I remember more than once when chants went up for certain substitutes on the bench to come on and that would invariably guarantee he would remain benched.

Edd do you think BR is happy still st Celtic and if so do you think he will sign another contract, its just with the outburst towards our fans am not so sure mate.
{Ed007's Note - Yes I think Rodgers is more than happy - why wouldn't he be - and I think he will sign a new contract before the summer. I wouldn't exactly call it an "outburst", if Ange had said the exact same thing but threw in a few "mate"s or "it is what it is" nobody would have batted an eyelid.
It's time Celtic fans moved from that interview, I'm sure Brendan Rodgers has now.}

Unless a really big job came in, I think Brendan will be here to do the 10.
Like the last time, it's only us that can stop ourselves from achieving it.

Hopefully he signs another few years till we are 6 or 7 in a row. His ego will have him as DOF to oversee 10 in a row! ?.

I don’t know many successful managers who are not egotists . I think they need a layer of egotism to protect them from the barbs coming from so called sports journalists and pundits . I suppose the last 20 yrs, or however long it is many on social media are only too quick to put boot in with the belief that they know everything about game .
I know Martin O’Neil well and although I like Martin as a manager and was more than delighted when he came to Celtic, he is probably the most egotistical manager, since his previous boss Brian Clough.
I think we shouldn’t concern ourselves about by- products or side traits with BR for the success of Celtic we should concentrate on the good things and the success he brings to club . We can discuss the negatives and the side issues that annoy us after he is gone, hopefully in 5/ 6 yrs timec.

Top of the league 15 pts in front of our bitter rivals. Umpteen trophies and league titles. Recently now the most successful club in Scotland. 116 trophies. And some so called fans are criticising the manager. . Some people are VERY VERY VERY HARD TO PLEASE. Stop and think and have a good hard look at where Celtic are and progressing forward. AND STOP LIVING IN THE PAST.
