Ed do you think Brendan will extend his contract at the end of this season?

{Ed007's Note - I expect it'll be announced before then.}

Agree1 Disagree2

31 Dec 2024 13:03:34
What about KT rumours Ed? Looking likely Welsh Holm and Palma heading out.

{Ed007's Note - As if this year wasn't $hite enough with losing close friends and my wee Yoda now I need to think about Kieran "Rich Tea hips" Tierney limping back to Celtic ??

31 Dec 2024 13:29:30
?am the same as you Edd but a think Buzz mentioned he played 37 games last season which isn't a bad return. like to wish Edd and people on this site a Happy n Healthy New Year God Bless ?.

{Ed007's Note - He played 27 matches last season and 9 of them were less than 30 mins appearances. He played 1497 mins last season across 27 matches averages out at 55 mins per appearance.
LB at Celtic has been a problem for years, bringing KT back only prolongs that being the case, the left hand side will continue to be seen as the weak point in the team by opposition managers, an over the hill, injury ravaged and injury prone washed up Pub League player isn't the answer.}

31 Dec 2024 14:31:53
True mate, Happy new Year anyway mate.

{Ed007's Note - And to you mate ??

31 Dec 2024 14:32:04
Over a 12 month period from June 2023 to June 2024,
KT played in 42 games which included Scotland matches and non competitive games.
He was also available on the bench for several more games.

I know it’s a poor argument including Friendlies but it shows that he could be available for more Celtic games than what some people think and he could be worth the risk.

But Ed is right about him being only a fringe player with not many minutes played.

{Ed007's Note - But why even take the risk, why change the entire player trading model we have used to accommodate one player?
If KT hadn't previously played for Celtic there wouldn't be one Celtic fan that would think signing him was a good idea, this is the type of signing you'd expect Peter Lawwell or even TRIFC to make.}

31 Dec 2024 14:59:44
Only way i could get on board with KT coming back is if he's back up for LB and even CB but to bring him back as 1st choice to replace taylor is a huge gamble not worth taking. Unfortunately though i can't see him playing back up.
I just hope rodgers and co know something the rest of us don't with his injuries and fitness.

{Ed007's Note - We have an elite manager in Rodgers, we've restructured the footballing/scouting department by appointing Paul Tisdale & others, we've scoured the globe, looked at all the data, crunched the numbers and the best LB option we can come up with is KT? It's ludicrous.
Wasn't Tisdale hailed as some kind of "footballing doctor"? So all he's done is write a repeat prescription so far if this deal is happening.}

31 Dec 2024 15:08:21
Pay as you play deal?.

31 Dec 2024 15:27:59
A footballing doctor? Sounds perfect for KT :D.

{Ed007's Note - ?

31 Dec 2024 15:13:15
Ed, with these KT stats, you'll do Buzz out a job. Steady on old bean ??.

{Ed007's Note - Nah, Buzz is The Master!

31 Dec 2024 15:15:50
You do make a good point and that’s exactly the risks that Sevco take and has come back to bite them time and time again ?

We don’t need 3 left backs for the 2nd half of the season.
It also goes against our usual signing policy.

Having said all that, I would love to see KT back ?.

31 Dec 2024 15:26:31
Aye but ed …, . Is he coming or wit.

{Ed007's Note - mibbe...

31 Dec 2024 16:11:32
I know I’ve written a few posts focused on this Ed, but having a Scotland international, and arguably one of Scotland’s best players, in the squad for European homegrown purposes is a good thing IMO - better than Welsh, Bain and Ralston. I get where you’re coming from right enough, I’d also like to see a LB in the AJ, Frimpong or Juranovic mould. The only thing I will say though is that if we do sign KT there needs to be a pay per play clause. No way can we afford to splash out on a guy that’s constantly injured.

{Ed007's Note - Is being one of Scotland's best players _ which I doubt KT is btw, they don't even play him in his natural position do they? - a good enough reason for Celtic to sign a player, maybe sell Engels in the summer and replace him with John McGinn who looks on his way out at AV.}

31 Dec 2024 16:52:49
Aw naw now youve started the John McGinn rumours now Edd ?.

{Ed007's Note - ??

31 Dec 2024 16:55:54
The point I’m trying to make (hope it’s coming out) is that the Scottish players in our squad should not be a major weakness for us. For me right now Ralston, Welsh and Bain just don’t cut it at that level and I believe KT would. No way should we be signing KT to replace a quality LB. He needs to be backup to whoever that is.

Anyways, Happy New year mate and thanks again for all you do on here. And cheers again to every one who contributes. All the best for 2025!

{Ed007's Note - Happy New Year H2M mate, all the best ???

31 Dec 2024 18:49:09
‘Over the hill…. washed up pub league player’, More than a bit harsh Ed! He is 27yo and playing at the highest level. I personally believe he has a lot still to offer, and if the right finance deal can be achieved he would add further quality to our team/ squad.
Happy new year when it comes ?.

{Ed007's Note - He isn't playing at the highest level, he's was dropped and injured for most of his time at Arsenal. When KT left Celtic where was his career path taking him, he was expected to end up at a Man City or even Real Madrid, now he's being linked with a free transfer back to Celtic - that's exactly the definition of an over the hill washed up Pub League player.
He is finished at the top level and even him entertaining coming back to Celtic shows how far his star has fallen and the confidence he has in himself of playing at that top level ever again
Even mentioning "if the finance deal can be achieved" shows you have doubts about his fitness & ability - why not bust the wage structure for such a quality player on a free from one of the top clubs in England, and why is nobody else? And all this pish about managing his fitness to keep him for big games etc is absolutely ridiculous, this is Kieran Tierney we're talking about not Ronaldo, we laugh about foreigners "can he do it at a wet & windy Fir Park in December" we're talking about a guy that grew up 10 mins up the road from Fir Park not being able to do it!
Happy New Year mate, all the best for 2025 to you and the family ???

31 Dec 2024 19:20:05
Ed, you need to learn to compromise on KT. Get the sevco sports science team to independently assess him. If they give the green light, I think you should eat humble pie and defer to their professional opinion ?.

{Ed007's Note - ??

31 Dec 2024 20:22:22
Aresenal doing rather well then in the EPL with washed up pub league players on the bench … maybe others should try that model.
As always Ed always about opinions mate, and we’ll agree to disagree on this one…. Have a good one?.

{Ed007's Note - Aren't Arsenal writing off £25 million in KT's transfer fee, he ain't even making their bench....
Right here's a question for everyone, Valle or KT..... and if you answer is Valle why would you even entertain signing KT?

31 Dec 2024 21:40:42
Brendan is capable of building a legacy that will come only second to Stein.

He just needs the backing of the board and our recruitment team to get it right.
