Tomorrow will be the 30th year Anniversary since our League Cup Final defeat against Raith Rovers at Ibrox.
It was still a shock losing to a Championship club but Celtic were in a really bad way.
Celtic were actually in the middle of our worst winless league run in our entire history.
Celtic never won any of our 11 league matches from September until Hogmanay.
Also Over a 6 months period between September and March, we played 20 league games and Won only TWO.
A 2-0 home win against Falkirk and we needed a last minute soft penalty to help beat Kilmarnock 2-1 both when we played at Hampden.
Forward 30 years later and Hampden has been our second home in recent years.
Our fans are loving the most successful period in our clubs history.
Our older fans will not get bored with our constant success because we can remember the dark days.

I ended up betting on Raith rovers that day as we were so poor at the time.
My reasoning was if we win I will be happy so won't care about my stake. If we get beat Ill have some cash to get wrecked and forget it.

Our performance in the Cup Final actually improved to what we were watching in previous weeks and it was a game Celtic deserved to win.
It was a period in our history when everything was going wrong but it started to improve when we returned to Celtic Park.
The turning point was Fergus starting up the instalment plan for season tickets.
He tried it at Hampden but it really took off when we returned to Celtic Park.
The scheme had been in operation at Ibrox for years but Celtic finally started to fight back financially.
We went from having under 10,000 season ticket holders in the old Celtic Park to filling up 95% our new Stadium with season ticket holders.
It helped us close the initial gap and then forced Rangers FC to eventually “Cheat” to try and compete with us.

A brutal, brutal day that is permanently etched in my memory.
It's being witness to such games/ results that make you really appreciate the trophy laden seasons we've been experiencing in recent years. ?

Don't think I could ever bring myself to bet against celtic no matter the situation.

I was studying in Kirkcaldy at the time and had a punt on them to win the cup. Was over in Glasgow with mates weekend of the game …. Ended up having to buy a couple of rounds that night ?
Also led to that brief scoreline of Bayern Munich 0 Raith Rovers 1.
