I was impressed with McCowan's press conference. There were a few slightly condescending questions which he batted away and reiterated that he hasn't won a raffle to be here, he's earned it through hard work and ability. He's doing some work with a mindset coach and it's good to see him taking steps to ensure he stays focused and makes the most of his opportunity. A fatal mistake some players make is thinking they've made it the moment they sign for Celtic.

There's something about the way the lad carries himself that suggests he's got another couple levels within him. I really enjoyed his performance Sunday hope he starts Wednesday as I'm up for game.

He's coming into his peak years so there's no reason he can't get even better mate, I agree with you. I think he's a stick-on to start. I'd also like to see CCV and Trusty together because we've not seen that pairing before.

{Ed007's Note - A lot of supporters were/are comparing McCowan signing to Barry Robson and Hartley - in a favourable way - but McCowan is only 26, the other 2 were 30 & 31 when we signed them.
Under Rodgers I expect McCowan to kick on and become an even better player than probably the player himself thought he could be. Being coached by an elite coach while playing beside & learning from the big name players around him can only help McCowan's progress.
He'll be seen as a bargain by the end of the season and if he gets enough game time he will be in the mix for POTY but as I've said since before the season started that'll go to Kuhn imo.}

Absolutely Ed. Rodgers' main strength is making players better and I think we're onto something really good with McCowan. There was a lot of the usual snobbery that £1m from Dundee isn't good enough etc. but he's proven as a standout against the best teams domestically.

{Ed007's Note - We should always be looking to snap up the best Scottish players in the league and hopefully it's something Paul Tisdale will look to implement - starting with Lennon Miller - as we have lost out on some cracking players recently. I'm still pi$$ed off that we didn't sign Lewis Ferguson.}

Ferguson would've been the perfect replacement for Scott Brown but then would guys like him and Hickey have developed as well if they hadn't gone to Italy? Hard to say but I'd take Miller all day long.

{Ed007's Note - Ferguson was definitely good enough to be a Celtic player when he was leaving Aberdeen and I think he would have continued to progress with us - he'll end up at a top level European club before too long.}

It was good to see Lewis making the bench earlier tonight for Bologna in their 2-0 victory.
It’s his first involvement since April.
Hopefully Ferguson can stay fit and have another great season.
Definitely one that got away.

I was desperate for us to sign McCowan after seeing him a few times last season and at the start of this season. shrewd bit of business.

I didn’t expect McCowan to rise to it the way he has but he’s been great, I agree we should always be keen to gamble on the best young Scottish players. McCowan is right to be pissed off at suggestions he’s some star struck kid in a daze at Celtic park, he’s at a great age, great stage of his career and anything is still possible for him in the game. Our midfield is strong and they should all push each other on.
