During Rangers 9 in a row -
Celtic only finished second twice,
when they Won titles 8 and 9 IAR.
The closest Celtic came to finishing 2nd before then, was at 4 IAR in 1992.
Celtic only needed a draw at home to Hibs to finish 2nd and Qualify for Europe but we lost 2-1.
Hibs had done Hearts a favour, who joined Hibs in Europe because the they won the League Cup earlier that season.
Airdrie also Qualified for Europe because they played Champions Rangers the following week in the Scottish Cup Final.
BUT
Celtic got in the back door of European Football for season 1992/ 93 season.
Scotland and Celtic got East Germany's place when they joined with West Germany.
I can remember that day we got beat against Hibs and thinking we failed to Qualify for Europe.
I was only 18 and I had Wolfe Tones tickets at the Motherwell Civic Centre but I was gutted after the result.
My Friend drive over to Motherwell and we Sold our tickets.
I then didn't see the Wolfe Tones for the 1st time until 1994.

Fantastic.
I was just going from memory and didn’t think we’d finished second and remember being 4th or 5th during those painful years.
They were signing the Engerland captain and goalkeeper and we signed two feckn soldiers. The team read out at Hampden nearly made me cry. Oh the irony that the people are there now I’m feeling their pain not a feckn jot.
I watched Celtic winning nothing between 88 centenary year and cup final against Airdrie in 95 seven years. A friend I meet at the game who’s older than me on Sunday said he watched Celtic winning nothing between 7-1 game and start of Stein era which was 10 years.
Are his facts correct Buzz.

PS: I was at cup final in 1988 when Tommy’s immortal words were uttered and I showed Maggie the red card along with every Celtic and Dundee Utd supporter and I was at cup final against Airdrie to see Pierre’s header and Tommys one success. God rest him.

Celtic beat Rangers 7-1 in the 1957 League Cup Final.
We didn’t win anything else until Jock Stein came and within 2 months,
Celtic beat Dunfermline 3-2 in the 1965 Scottish Cup Final.
Celtic beat Rangers in the 1989 Scottish Cup Final.
We then had to wait until the 1995 Scottish Cup Final win against Airdrie.

Little did we know walking out the Stadium,
It would be another 6 years before Celtic won anything.
My first celebration and I was 21 year old.
It’s brilliant how we’re making up for those dark times.
