Looked up to see how much Hatate transfer was 1.4 million and honestly he has got to be pound for pound the best signing during Ange reign.
He is up there with Henrik and Lubo for such a low fee and fantastic signing.
Nakamura cost 3m in 2005 to add some context.

I remember speaking to strachan at a dinner a couple of years ago and he mentioned naka was one of the best bits off business he had done in his career. Said the reported fee was way out and he cost us closer to 1.5 mil.
Agree about hatate though think he could have a great season.

I think Hatate and orielly will both take it to another level this year. Our central midfield options are phenomenal. I can’t remember the last time we had such an abundance of talented options.

I tried to compare the options to our Proper Invincible season 6 seasons ago.
I counted 8 midfield and wide men that Brendan could pick from in 2016/ 17.
Brown, Calmac, Bitton, Armstrong, Sinclair, Roberts, Forrest and Rogic.
This season I’ve counted at least 12 realistic first team options, Ange can pick from, for our midfield and wide positions in our team.
Calmac, Hatate, Turnbull, O’Riley, Ideguchi, McCarthy, Mooy, Forrest, Abada, Jota, Maeda and Kyogo can also play wide on the left.
That is a good phenomenal selection headache to have, for Big Ange.

To suggest that hatate is anywhere near the heights of Henrik and Lobo is nothing short of criminal. not so long ago, Celtic fans were saying hatate was running out of puff because of his exertions over a long season. never in a million years could you say the same about Henrik and Lobo. A lot of support ers get over excited about some players having a decent display over half a dozen or so games. but wasn't this exactly the case with hatate at the end of last season? He could hardly put two passes in succession latterly and my granny could have tackled more successful ly. My personal opinion? When things are going his way he can look great but when the team are on the back foot he goes AWOL.
{Ed007's Note - To be fair to Hatate he came in during the January window after completing a full season in Japan, that's 18 months of non stop football.It was no great surprise he tired, it was more surprising Ange kept playing him after Hatate himself came out and said he was basically out of gas.
He has been one of the outstanding players during preseason.}

Hatate got a welcomed break in May this year, after playing on a regular basis since the start of July 2020.
Hatate represented Japan at the Olympics last summer.

O'Riley only cost £1.5m. I think he is going to be a huge player for us over the next few seasons and will them leave for a BIG BIG transfer fee, especially when he gets called up to the Danish national team.

@Gael the point of the post was to compare fees paid for Hatate and the and not if he was as good as Lubo or Henrik. It just happens that Henrik and Lubo didn't cost a lot of cash.
Looking forward to see how Hatate progresses this year.
My favourite player was Jinky followed by Lubo.

Hatate and O'Reilly will have huge season imo, add Kyogo, GG, Jota Abada and Maeda and I don't see goals being an issue this season. I think we will be devastating going forward!

Fellows sorry if some points I tried to make have appeared incoherent, but wi-fi in parts of the Highlands is frustrating at times. Just want to say I don't have an issue with hatate and hope he has a magnificent season.
