I've seen a good few of the posters saying they want a new CB. Obviously if/ when Jullien leaves we would be left short at the back. My question is where does Welsh fit in? I think he is a fantastic young CB who could one day be a captain of Our great club. Sure he has a mistake in him but so do all young CB's. I want to see our youth be an integral part of our team and see Welsh as a future cornerstone of our starting 11. I would like him to be our 3rd CB this season which make acquiring a 4th an even trickier task. I know it's not as simple as that but what are all your thoughts?

Welsh did OK last night but his passing out from the back isn't great. He is still young but he needs regular games to improve and with CV and Starman he will struggle for that time. If we get another CB that may push him out even further. Not sure he'll be a future captain either. Interesting Ralston got the armband last night though.

If we want to improve we need better. If we don’t he will be fine. That’s the choice. For me if Julienne leaves we need two to come in.

I've liked Welsh since I first saw him and hope he has a long and successful future at Celtic. I would have him ahead of Jullien any day of the week and he will only improve with experienced defenders around him to bring him on. Pat Stanton and Roddy McDonald style.
{Ed007's Note - For me you need 4 CBs in your squad - if one gets injured you still have 2 + a sub - and I would be more than happy to be one of those 4. He's young, Scottish (remember we need homegrown players) he's already good enough for most SPFL games imo and will only get better under Ange. Replace Jullien and we're good to go.}

Welsh for me, at this moment in time, would be my 4th choice CB, should we sign another centre half during this window.
I quite like like him, good size and strength. But he's raw and can be rash in the tackle (granded I haven't seen him play in this pre season yet) but he'll need to improve which we'll hopefully see this season.

I think Welsh needs more games than being 3td or 4th choice cb for us at his age. He's at that stage he needs to play every week. I would loan him to another spl club, an Aberdeen or hibs and have lawel in the 4th cb role.
{Ed007's Note - I'd imagine Welsh would be pretty pi$$ed off after turning down a transfer to Italy and a pay hike in January if he got papped out to Hibs on loan.}
