With the new season fast approaching, what's everyones view on the coming of VAR?

Agree0 Disagree0

There'll still be fallout from it no doubt, but for the most part it's a beneficial tool.

Kwaj we will be able to form an opinion on VAR after the first few cases of it being used. Several posters have commented on it recently regarding who will be viewing the incidents or where it will be operated from. I think it will be shrouded in secrecy as to who is viewing the incidents and from what those afore mentioned posters are saying, we won’t know where it’s based.

The positives will be more correct decisions eventually being made in the 90 minutes and that will stop the amount of late retrospective bans for only one club.
The negatives will be celebrating a goal for VAR to disallow the goal.
I believe VAR will be good for Celtic in Scotland.

{Ed007's Note - I am not looking forward to VAR coming in after the World Cup, mostly for the reasons mentioned and the way it seems to ruin the spontaneity of the entire game of football.
I am definitely not a fan of goals being disallowed for a player's toe being offside and that kind of nonsense.
If there's a VAR call the referee should go over to a screen, ask to see incidents from different angles and speeds etc but IF the ref couldn't have spotted the infringement with his own eyes in real time even if he had been staring at the incident then the initial call stands. He would see an elbow if he had been looking but he wouldn't spot a toe offside no matter how hard he was staring.
Have I made sense with that? ?? It probably sounded clearer in my head!}

There is no point in it if its the same idiots that are sitting in the wee van who can't see if someone is 3yrds offside when the are on the pitch or give a penalty when the offence happened 2yrds outside the 18yrd box.
Also How can it be used to its full potential if they don't have the same amount of camera's at each ground.

Hope am wrong but think we will just be talking about controversial var decisions instead of ref decisions. Should be a lot less tho. I've seen some down south that's mind boggling even after watching them over a few times.

I will add a couple of opinions as well.
The fans should be allowed to HEAR what is being discussed between the ref and the VAR team.

The fans should also be able to SEE what the ref is looking at and HEAR his decision (and why)

The fans pay their cash so why should this be done in secret?

TinyTim. It’s done in secret because it’s Scotland no need to explain anything else.

Was about to say the same thing tinytim (as in rugby let everyone see and hear decisions) HH.
