Not really clued up on this stuff but if Celtic win the league and they win the Europa League not that I think or hope they do I want them out this round but do Celtic still go straight into the CL and do hearts then go into the qualifications rounds?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sure they'd go straight into the groups and we'd go into the qualifiers. The CL spot would go to the next country up I think. I want to say France but might be making that up.

So we win league and not happening but fairytale they win uefa. we still have to qualify they dont? Think that's what om reading?

Both clubs would go straight into the CL groups stages because UEFA have kept a CL place for the Europa League winners.
I don’t think it’s been confirmed yet if Scotland have been moved up a place in the Association Coefficient table, since Russia’s removal.
Scotland are in 11th place from last season.
It would make a difference to the Scottish runners up because they would enter the 3rd round in the qualifiers through the tough league route. It would also mean that the runners up would be guaranteed group stage football in one of the competitions.
Hearts would also be guaranteed group stage football next season if they remain in 3rd place because they would enter the Europa league at the playoff stage and if the lost, they would enter the Conference league group stages.

BigBubs,
If Sevco win both the Scottish league and the Europa league,
The next CL place would go to the club who finish 3rd in the French league.

There's a place available to the Scottish league winners (with certain stipulations) and a separate place available to the EL winners. I don't see any reason that one would impact on the other. If anything, I'd imagine if they won EL we could finish 2nd and still get CL groups.

Surely there's no way that can be right Buzz. Scotland have earned a team in the CL due to building up the coefficient. UEFA can't just take that away because the champions had also qualified via the EL. It's 2 separate routes into the competition and it would fall to the SPFL to decide how to distribute the domestic place.

Thanks BB. Didn't take into account the Russia situation. Highly iikely scenario that they win it but the longer they play extra mid week fixtures the better for us.

Kev,
The Europa League final last season was Villarreal V Man Utd but none of those clubs qualified for the CL through their own domestic leagues.
If the winners Villarreal did qualify for the CL through their Spanish league last season,
That CL place would’ve went to Monaco who finished 3rd in the French League.
It didn’t matter to Monaco who won the Europa League final last season.
So if Sevco win both the Scottish league and the Europa League, the CL place will go to the club sitting 5th in the Association Coefficient table and that is France.
France have 2 clubs who qualify automatically and that place would then go to the French club that finishes 3rd this season.

Wow, that's really shocking if it's how they're running it.
