Why I DO NOT bet odds on horses
Today at Cheltenham the big hitters and I mean BIG HITTERS, took a hammering. I heard of two wealthy punters each betting £100k on a Shishkin win at odds 8/ 11.
The favourite NEVER finished race so ALL bets lost.
I guarantee the Cheltenham Clerk of Course will NOT be getting a Christmas card from these punters, after he WATERED course last night DESPITE weather warnings of a DOWNPOUR, result a very very muddy racecourse OH DEARIE DEAR.

Yes, absolute swamp, had Bravemansgame as my winner, wanted to see Shiskin run his race, he didn’t want that ground, forecast was rain, maybe not that heavy but clerk should have left it, especially after running on it yesterday, tomorrow running on new course, won’t help the big hitters losses today, I heard someone had £150,000 on Energumene, won’t stop me giving my donation to bookies tomorrow though.

Watching the opening show this morning the presenters were saying there was a slight chance of a shower, so I backed horses that were suited to good to soft what chance do you have. Regarding Shiskin, the horse has won three races on heavy and a few on soft so I’m not buying their excuse that the going was responsible for the defeat.

He loves the horses and enjoyed a wee moderate flutter God rest him. I’ve been thinking a lot about him this week and he’s away 21 yesrs. You couldn’t talk to him when the GGs were running the excitement got the better of him.
I just never got it but I know it gives a lot of punters a lot of enjoyment. Batter in Benny and all the very best!

Shishkin was hopeless but predicted it will fall or be pulled up today as it was the most backed horse of the day. Poet you could see Nicholls was raging about pulling Bravemansgame out the race and said "I don't want to get into it" when talking about the ground which was obviously a dig at the course being watered when it was forecast to pish it doon.

@ JFP it was my dad that got me into punting also, he always backed Willie Carson and trainer Major Dick Hern, and he did OK (he clothed us all 5 kids for school and my mum got her share too, this where Mrs T got her ideas from groan)

ED007 my paid for tipping service has worked a treat last two days, small profit Tuesday and bigger profit today.
A tenner well spent but paying for tipsters is NOT for everyone.

My dad also got me into gambling at a very young age and It’s a hobby I can now enjoy because I’ve been disciplined with my limits for 20 years.
It did get out of hand in my 20s when I suffered more than a few big loses.
But I made sure I didn’t involve my son into gambling because I would rather he spent his money on other things.

JFP that's probably the best advice to give! I love a bet, but wouldn't like to see the weans at it when there up a bit. I do OK, cam see through sky bet that I made a small profit over the year. My first bet was at 14, a quid in a 13 fold footie acca returned just over 350, I had utd to beat spurs as the only match on the sunday. Ended up the game where Carroll got lobbed and dug it out from a foot behind the line.
