Paul McStay was my favourite player at a young age. I then had pleasure of meeting him when I was mascot age 7.
Roy Aitken was captain and I was tinged with dissapointment until he served me a glass of coke and Cesear told me Paul McStay would be captain that day. Game finished 1-1 v Motherwell.
I cannot recall the full team but Paul Elliot made his debut and Tommy Burns played.

Keezo,
It would’ve been extra special when Paul McStay scored our equaliser that day,
Motherwell were our bogey team from about 1989 until the mid 1990s when Tommy McLean was the Motherwell manager.
A high percentage of the Motherwell players back then were actually Celtic fans but it didn’t make it any easier to beat them.

I had a look at our results against Motherwell from February 1989 until September 1995 and Celtic only won 5 times from 30 games against Motherwell.
Celtic won 5,drawn 15 times and Motherwell won 10 games.
After Celtic knocked Rangers out of the Scottish Cup for a 3rd year in a row, we played Motherwell in the 1991 Semi-Finals.
I remember being gutted when Celtic lost 4-2 in a replay and Motherwell went on to win the Scottish Cup that year. ( it’s the only time I’ve been under the cover at the Old Rangers end of the ground )
Celtic actually went into that Semi-Final with only ONE victory against Motherwell in our previous 10 meetings but it was still highlighted as a Major shock by the media.

Keezo1, would that have been about 1987? Think you must have been the mascot at my very first game. We travelled with St. Peter's no.1 CSC Belfast, my dad was a member. Always remember the crowds heading up to the stadium.
