I think 6 months in Serie A with Udinese could have been the making of Stephen Welsh. I wouldn't have agreed to the loan to buy but if they were happy for just a 6 month loan I'd seriously consider it.

Celtic need Stephen Welsh for the 2nd half of the season.
We don’t know how Jullian will recover at this stage.
We also don’t know if Starfelt is going to improve.
If Celtic allow Welsh to leave, we might be forced to play Bitton or Scales at Centre Back at some stage.

I would usually agree with the point you make in this case Kevbhoy, but as BuzzBomb says, we need Stephen with us in the East End to help us win this league as there too many variables.

Fair enough but going by what we've seen so far, Starfelt is going to be the main pick alongside CCV whether he improves or not.

Seen a lot of debate this morning that Welsh is ahead of Starfelt. Young man has potential but still 4th choice for me when everyone is fit.

Starfelt is 26 and Welsh is 21, right now Starfelt is the more accomplished player but if Welsh can get into the first team in the next year or so I'd have every confidence he could be better at 26. Like I said, I hope he's got a big future with us but a wee stint up against guys like Zlatan, Dzeko, Vlahovic and Immobile would be absolutely priceless to a young CB.
