this is my take on the group i know the sevies will be looking thee going on about the goals wee conceded in our group.

wee had a far stronger group. wee took the match to Leverkusen in there own ground who sit 3rd in there league we narrowly missed out in that match . at Parkhead the score line did not tell the story there keeper was man of the match they took there chances.

betis who sit 3rd in the Spanish league wee took it to them home and away we narrowly missed out over there and turned them over last night.

ferencvaros wee turned over twice. we got 9 points from the group. more points than the sevies got in there group a group that was win by lyon who sit 12th in the French league.

overall in Europe wee played 12 games we win 6 lost 5 and drew 1.

they played 10 win 3 lost 4 drew 3.

im no expert on coefficient but if its down to wins then we did more for it than them.

Loads have been made that Celtic conceded the most goals in the Europa League.
But only Lyon, Napoli and Leverkusen scored more goals.
Celtic got more points than Sevco and scored more than double the goals they scored.
With the luck of the draw, Celtic could go far in the Conference league because we always score away from home and Celtic always play in front of European full houses in Paradise.

@ United Ireland Buzz will explain it better but the reason the Sevvies have a better overall coefficient is over the 5 years UEFA count coefficients we had seven coefficient points 5 years ago they had .05 so next season we HAVE to make up these 7 points when they drop off and then make more coefficient points on top.

yeah tim was making the point as in this season buddy. every one can see how good a team we are becoming under ange every game is so entertaining and that's what football is about to entertain and play football the correct way. we changed our full squad last night and played all our youngsters and they played ange ball against a good betis side who sit 3rd in la liga.

Taking 9 points from such a tough group and not qualifying really is a shame for the players. The inability to hold onto our leads against Betis and Leverkusen is what ultimately cost us.

Does anyone know if this new competition grants coefficient points also?

10 Dec 2021 15:58:04
StubbsiesHorse,
I’m sure the clubs also get 2 Coefficient points for a win and 1 point for a draw, in the new Conference League.
I read that clubs got 3 bonus points for qualifying for the Europa League group stages and the clubs who qualified for the Conference League group stages received 2.5 bonus points.
The knockout rounds will be similar with clubs receiving Coefficient points for wins, draws and extra bonus points for every round they qualify for.

We got 9 points the sevs got 8 and our group was stronger again.

Some clubs think co-efficient points are celebrated and reflected with a number of stars on their jersey.

10 Dec 2021 18:00:24
OAB haha - did I see that they never actually had stars on their tops last night? Maybe to fend off some uncomfortable and embarrassing questions!

The draw is on the 13th and I think only Spurs are a top side (although they haven't actually qualified yet) - we should be able to tuck the rest away if we turn up.

The first game is on 17th of Feb so we don't really have to worry about it for a while.

Nice looking trophy too!

There are some good teams left in the competition but we should be looking to win it.

Only thing wee should be concentrating on this year is the domestic scene.

11 Dec 2021 12:13:06
We should be trying to win every competition we enter or there is no point entering the league is important but so is every competition we are Celtic.

Well said Frank.
