I can't believe Mickey Johnston is injured again.
This is his 6th season playing for the Celtic first team and he's only managed to play the full 90 minutes TWICE.
Luckily for Mickey he signed a 5 and a half year contract extension on December 28th 2019 until May 2025.
One Month after he signed that contract, he got injured against St. Johnstone.
It was the time when Mickey was ignoring Lennon, when he was trying to find out if Johnston was injured.
That was 20 months ago and Mickey has only played about 380 competitive minutes since.
It looks like Celtic are stuck with Johnston for another 3 and a half years because no one else will touch him with a barge pole.
I was actually a fan of Johnston but I can't be bothered now, building my hopes up every time he makes a comeback, only for him to get injured again after 30 minutes.

He is way below level required and not capable of playing professional football. Should be shipped out ASAP. Waste of a space on the bench.

To lightweight and injury prone. Then he tries to hard and it just doesn't work out. I thought he might have been loaned out but due to our limited squad he's still here. Ange saying he must have walked under a ladder with GG pulling a calf in the warm up adding to the injury list was quite funny but true. When we get all them fit their more than capable of going on a good run of winning games. Defence and crossing balls should be priority in training every day.

Anno Buzz in the last 5 seasons he’s played 1,3,14,11,8 games in the league, calmac has played more games than that in 1 campaign (all competitions) . He’s only 22 so could overcome it but I don’t think he will, I think he’s lucky to have got the long term deal when he did .

Mikey Johnston will never make if at Celtic, the boys far to injury prone, as a post above says, mcgregor has played more in 1 season than Johnston has in his last 5 seasons……. That’s just ridiculous.

So starting 5 seasons ago as a 17 year old he should have been playing the same amount of games as calmac does now? . how many games as a 17 to 22 year old did calmac play for celtic . why aren't you calling out rogic or biton for not playing the same amount of games as calmac or being inconsistent un fit injury prone . he's only 22 his body could still be developing? Hence the injuries. Also we are notorious for not giving youth a chance and he can't pick himself.

Mickey Johnston had already picked up muscles injuries and a groin injury prior to be given a 5 and a half year contract by someone within Celtic Park.
Since then he’s had a bad knee injury and more muscles injuries.
Forrest had a few injuries as a youngster but nothing like this.
Johnston plays for 30 minutes and then he’s injured for months.

So we just bin young players if they get a run of injuries?

24 Sep 2021 10:07:54
Johnston has only played 2 full games. ( one really because he was took off after 114 minutes of Extra Time ) So he’s only played One full game, where he’s played from start to finish in 5 seasons.
The problem is we can’t bin Johnston because he’ll be stuck on our treatment table for another 3 years and 8 months. No one else will touch him.
Now would’ve been the time to cut our loses with Johnston but some brain of Britain gave an injury prone youngster a 5 and a half year deal.

Regardless of Johnston injury the guy is far too lightweight for me to play first team football at celtic. Everytime he comes back he is out injuried just as quick. He spends more of his time on the ground than in his feet. Ever time he goes into a tackle with someone he nearly always loses out. The guy is only simple making up numbers at celtic for me.

Plenty more in squad like that but the boy has potential o for me let's exhaust every avenue to help him fulfil it before binning him or does he need to act / behave like Griffiths to be giving a chance?

Deep river Bhoy
I respect you for sticking up for Johnston.
I was in the Johnston camp because I believed he would come good.
I’m not sure now because he can’t manage more than a game before another injury.
I’m maybe taking all my frustrations out on Mickey because of the injury crisis at the club.
Our new Sports Science guy has his work cut out.

Buzz he's only a boy . we where nearly rid of ralston but finally everything looks to have clicked into place with him . not forgetting broony plenty wanted rid of him not long after arriving but goes on to become a club legend . forrest was in similar position as johnstone until big Ronnie's regime then he gained consistency injuryv free run and took it on with Rogers . also just hate seeing one of our own dismissed so easily.
