Here is a question for Buzz or anyone else.
With the international break in October if Kyogo is training but NOT playing can Celtic stop him travelling to Japan or can Japan invoke FIFA rules.

I think Timalloy, that if a player hasn't been playing or match fit then Celtic have grounds to stop him from travelling. But I think it will be up to Kyogo himself aswel as injured players have been included in international squads in the past. So it's a bit of an issue really but I think if Kyogo is still injured then yes but if Kyogo is back training then Japan can call him up to the saquad.

Fully agree Paul. No way celtic should let kaygo go on international duty if he is not back playing for at least a few weeks. Celtic pay his wages not Japan. As the saying goes he who pays the piper plays the tune.

I don’t know the rules Timalloy.
Japan have 2 massive World Cup qualifiers next month.
They’re away to Saudi Arabia and then home to Australia.
I think Japan will do everything they can to get Kyogo involved.

Japan will probably speak to Celtic but have the right to call the player up to undergo medical examination with the national team to assert fitness.
If Celtic refuse to release Japan can ask Uefa to invoke a 5 day ban from playing following their last international of the break.
But most times the relationship with club and country is good enough not to go down that route.

Just as a side note all clubs are paid for players called up to international duty. It’s worked on a category system and raises depending on the category of nation/ player.
Ie Liam Scales will trigger a payment to Shamrock R when he reaches so many caps but Celtic will take in a high percentage of this from his international appearance fees.

The club v. country debate, especially in the case of an injured player working towards fitness, usually (but not always) relies on common sense between all parties: the club, the country and the player.
It wouldn't make a whole lot of sense for Japan to call him up for a single game if he hasn't returned to playing for Celtic and I'm quite sure the club and Japan will see the right way to deal with it.
If Japan ask him to come then he can refuse and if the club feel his injury is still an issue then they can refuse too. Club's have to keep their players sweet on the international call-up front because most players want to play for their country if they can but if Kyogo says he's not fit enough then Japan would surely be taking his own thoughts into consideration without holding it against him in the future.
Like I said, it comes down to common sense rather than one party asserting any authority they may have for the sake of it. HH.
