Regarding Ajers comments today. Big Virgil came into our team and you could see the class ouze out of him, every game Virgil played looked like he was strolling it, I have never had that with Ajer, he was always out of position he thought and thinks he is a better player than he is.

VVD was very raw when he was with us. For me he developed at a much faster rate when he moved down south. He was twice the player Ajer was mind you. I remember thinking Denayer looked the better defender. Thank God I'm not a scout ?.

I like the big fella as a player. However, TOP players can adapt to being played out of position. ie. not their natural/ favourite position. He certainly is no Virgil! We got a few good years and a decent fee. if Brentford is your ambition mate, good luck to ya. Thanks for the service. Just don't expect to be welcomed back.

Imo denayer is better and was better than ajer at celtic.

Ajer did well and adapted to the CB role, although for me, never looked 100% comfortable there particularly against better teams.
VVD was and is on a another level to Ajer, power, pace, positional sense and the ability to read the game - different gravy.

CarmyleBhoy Brentford wasn’t his ambition the Premier league was just the same as VVD and Wanyama and others as a stepping stone to bigger clubs if they stand out.

I think that Denayer looked better than he was because he played beside VVD. He didn’t exactly set the heather on fire after he left us.
