Ryan Gauld wins player of the month in Portugal.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 May 2021 18:07:22
Ryan Gauld is not the answer to closing a 25 point gap lol.

18 May 2021 18:08:29
That’s impressive considering Gauld is playing for a club sitting 2nd bottom of the league table.

18 May 2021 19:52:25
Why not Gauld experience will have done him wonders look at the impact McGregor had when back from notts co . would we sign a player from notts co.

18 May 2021 20:43:41
Malky, No one said that Gauld was the answer to closing that gap and not one player will be but we will need to rebuild the squad and Gauld would be a very good signing for us.

18 May 2021 21:04:13
I don't understand the hate towards Gauld he's outshone Rogic/ Christie in a struggling team and would get far more of the ball for us, he would be a cracking signing.

18 May 2021 21:11:44
Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying sign him I don’t know enough about him but to right him off due to who he plays for isn’t a valid point.

18 May 2021 21:14:35
Nowhere near good enough. If we want the title back then we need to employ a top drawer manager who will sign top drawer players. If Howe is to be the manager and we sign player of Gaulds calibre then he will walk just like Rodgers did. We also need a top drawer chief scout who will help the club avoid signing players like Gauld, Barkas, Ajer, Ajeti etc etc etc👍.

18 May 2021 21:53:14
Malky why not make suggestions for alternatives rather than just shooting the idea of Gauld down? I don't know if he's what we need or not but just laughing off some one else's opinion is hardly productive.

18 May 2021 23:45:28
Gauld was a brilliant prospect when he was younger, and I thought he would go on to be a superstar, but in his loan spell at Hibs, it looked like he was another one that didn't fulfill his early potential, but maybe that was just a blip, he is still a young guy, and might be worth taking a chance on, but it would be upto him, I mean, would you swap the sunshine and lifestyle of Portugal for Glasgow? .

19 May 2021 00:20:50
What's your definition of a top drawer player?

18 May 2021 22:13:46
I have made suggestions, I've already stated we need top drawer players. I doubt very much if Gauld and Martin Boyle are on Eddie Howe's shopping list. Anyway we need a whole new back 4 aswell as a GK before we even think about signing another Midfielder who is 25 years old and still hasn't had an international cap despite being in great form for a team second bottom of their league and who apparently is " Celtic class". Not having it sorry👍.

18 May 2021 22:19:26
Malky hasn't watched him that is clear. Bhoy ripping it up in Portugal while playing with a poor team.

18 May 2021 22:28:10
Malky, out of curiosity. What top drawer players are out there that you think we could sign?

18 May 2021 22:45:36
So Malky we bring in a top drawer manager and give him say £30m (rumoured) transfer budget.
Realistically, How many top drawer players will that buy him? We spent £13m on 3 players that couldn't get a game.
There is talk of possibly between 15 - 18 players leaving the squad this season, We don't just need a first 11, we need to bring in players that will handle the SPL if the 1st choice player is injured and right now we don't have that.

18 May 2021 22:50:38
Did he not come to Hibs on loan recently and fail?

19 May 2021 07:53:09
In 18/ 19 he was at hibs and played just 292 minutes over 6 games. that's just under 3 and a half games. He suffered a serious hamstring injury and when he did play he only played in his own position once. Other games he was shoved out wide and even played at CF.
How our fans can make a judgement on a player on a player most would have only saw for 59 minutes against us while not playing his strongest position in beyond me.

19 May 2021 08:28:04
Well Moussa Dembele cost £500k, Virgil Van Dijk cost £2.5m. How much did Wanyama cost?, Forster cost £2.2m first time around. That is my definition of the type of top drawer players that we need. The affordable talent is out there, we used to have the right people in place that could find them👍.

19 May 2021 10:52:22
Malky that's nonsense. Every player you just mentioned was not brought in as a Top Drawer player. They were all projects who done extremely well.

Top drawer players we signed in the past are guys like Hartson, Sutton Venegoor of Hesselink, Nakamura.

For every succesful project we sign there is usually 2 or 3 failures to go with them. Guys like Bangura, Lassad, Gershon, Boerrigter, Pukki, Balde, Scepovic, Tonev, Wakaso, Berget, Kouassi, Benyu, Bayo, Shved, Gutman, Perez, Klimala, Bolingoli. there's probably a ton more.

Thats not even touching on players we have loaned and not signed permanently as they were rotten.

You've still not given one name of a player you regard as top drawer that you believe we could sign.

19 May 2021 11:33:23
Malky you would have been raging at some of they signings if they happened right now

Wanyama came from the second division is Belgium
Dembele a free tranfer from Fulham.
You would have run them in to the ground just like you are with gauld. Clueless.

19 May 2021 12:50:51
Cmon the players I mentioned were of a significantly higher standard from the get go. My point is you don't have to spend a fortune to get good quality players. Yes we spent £13m last summer but did we spend it wisely? Could it have been spent on better players? I'm not clueless about about Gauld, I know fine well we need better than him😉.

20 May 2021 19:52:08
Stop talking rubbish regarding the "significantly higher standard" bit.
I bet no one had heard of VVD, Wanyama or Dembele before we signed them so how can you say they were of a higher standard.
