I'll hold my hands up and say my knowledge of the relationship between DOF and Head Coach is fairly wooly but it's my understanding that, generally, the DOF ranks higher than the Head Coach. If that's the case, any talk of letting Eddie Howe pick his own man for DOF must surely be taken with a massive pinch of salt. I can't think of any other job where you could essentially handpick your own gaffer.

agree kev. it should be the club who pick the DOF some one who will want to be here for a wile and build something with the club.

Agree but the dof and manager have to be on the same page or we'll end up with a jock brown jansen scenario.

I've said this already bhoys but, for me, the DOF should be selected first and have a long-term plan of how all the football operations at the club will work, particularly the style of play from the kids right upto the first team.

The club should then draw up a shortlist of coaches who will fit into that ethos so that even after the manager leaves, it's only a coach/ manager that's being replaced and not the wholesale change you would have if a D. O. F was not in place.

If Eddie Howe or any other potential candidate is even suggesting who the D. O. F. should be, the conversation should end there and we should move on and talk to an alternative candidate.

What Pedro said is exactly what we should be doing. Get a system in place with continuity.
