No sell on fee and would be on decent wages but we could do worse than look at a few of the following free agents to add a bit of experience to the squad:
Asmir Begovic- GK - Bournemouth
Sergio Romero- GK - Man Utd
Romain Saiss- CB - Wolves
Danny Rose - LB - Spurs
James Mccarthy- CM - Crystal Palace
Robbie Brady- LM - Burnley
Josh King- CF - Everton
Dwight Gayle- CF - Newcastle
One or two of these could be prudent business. My two picks would be Begovic and Saiss.

Begovic is a great shout Del, 33yrs old and has plenty of good games in him.
Don't know anything about Saiss, 6ft 3" and at 31 would add experience.

Saiss still gets plenty of game time at Wolves Pedro. Left footed centre half. Stocky build, not the fastest but by no means a carthorse. Good positioning and awareness. We could do a lot worse in my opinion.

Every player on that list you could easily get 3 or 4 good years out of them.
Even if they need replacing after 2 years its only 1 or 2 players. Its highly unlikely any club will go out and sign 5 or 6 players aged 29 to 33 at the one time.

Goalkeepers at 33 are hardly past it. Between them over 150 caps at international level. You don't get to those numbers by being a bad player.
Older players we have took from down south in the last 3 or 4 years have generally done well, Forster (31) , Sinclair (27 or 28) the clear success stories. Duffy is the obvious exception but I feel for the boy as a combination of factors seemed to go against him coupled with personal circumstances has made him one of our worst signings in recent history. If you go further back to the likes of Carlton Cole and Kazim Richard's I'd argue the players I listed are of a much better calibre than those two.

We would do well to get Romero. I mentioned Saiss a few months back as a stop gap for a few seasons good experience and wages aren't to high currently either. If Griffiths was to leave in this window I'd take Gayle as a replacement he'll score for fun in Scotland.
