Bobby "Buzz Bomb" Lennox played his first game for Celtic 59 years ago today.
Bobby played for Celtic 599 times in all competitions and scored an amazing 301 goals.
Only Jimmy McGrory has scored more goals for Celtic in our history.
I had the pleasure of talking to Bobby once and he was a Gentleman.
It was at an Irish night in Saltcoats, the night St. Johnstone won the Scottish Cup at Celtic Park in 2014.
I mentioned to him he scored the first goal I had ever witnessed as a Celtic fan.
It turned out to be his 300th goal for Celtic and only his 4th goal from a penalty kick.
He remembered the game because George Best played for Hibs and Bobby mentioned that we beat Hibs 5-0 in the Scottish Cup a few weeks later.
Bobby also scored in that game which turned out to be his last goal for Celtic.
Celtic went on to win the 1980 Scottish Cup Final in his last ever game in our famous Green and White Hoops.
A total Celtic legend Bobby Lennox.

Remember being at a JFK supporters club function up in Scone Perth a few years ago. Big Aitken, McStay and Bobby Lennox were there. Had a wee chat with Bobby and got a photo with him. After, said it's a pleasure to meet you Bobby! No, no, he says, it's a pleasure to meet you! Very humble man, and treasure that photo to this day.

I just got the feeling from him that nothing was a problem.
Big Billy McNeill would also have been 81 years old today.
Bobby must’ve made his debut for Celtic on Billy McNeill’s 22nd Birthday.

Many years ago we nipped into 'Bobby's Bar' in Saltcoats to see if we could catch a glimpse of the legendary lion - but to no avail.
Later in the day we were walking through a park and there he was jogging, in training gear, keeping fit before the new season.
He still took the time to chat and accept our best wishes with great humour and appreciation. A true Celtic Great.

Booby Lennox was invited along to Johnstone Burgh FC when a friend of mine played there. He said he was well past his best at that stage and still nobody could catch him.

Loving the stories. The only lion I met was Billy McNeil but would love to meet Bobby and Bertie. Billy was also a true gentleman and took the time to have a quick blether.
