Don't often pay much attention to anything Charlie Nicholas has to say it's usually gibberish. But he raised an issue this morning that has been on my mind for a while. It's not a verbatim quote I've translated it into English.

'Celtic fans need to see and hear if Dermot Desmond still has the hunger and desire to take the club forward'

'The Irish tycoon might officially be a non-executive director but everybody knows he is the voice and the decision maker at Parkhead. '

'Neil Lennon has left and Peter Lawwell is leaving so Desmond's voice is the only one that matters now'

'Now it is time for him to stand up to (tell) the heartbeat of the club - the fans - how Celtic is going to move forward from this season'

'If Desmond has lost interest then the possibility of a new purchaser coming in would concern a lot of fans. '

It all comes back to the owner and it is now up to him to deliver. '

'Is Desmond truly determined to get Celtic back to the top? '

So is he?

Well we all know what happened after the semi final defeat to the Orcs.
I think we are about to see the same reaction.

Jonbhoy that was a while ago. When you get to a stage in life their are fights that we might have fought years ago that we wouldn’t fight today. There comes a point sometimes in business, or for footballers or boxers that we’re just not up for it. Do we know DD is?

The thing that points to a yes for me is appointing his laddie. If he isn’t up for he’d be sending him to fight with one hand behind his back. I don’t know the man but don’t see a father doing that.

I have no idea. But do we know he’s definitely a up for the cup?

J he's a hard nosed businessman and they very rarely like getting beat even In later years. am expecting him to be involved in the whole process.

02 Mar 2021 11:10:18
Mally you’re probably correct I certainly hope so.

02 Mar 2021 11:13:32
Agree with the bhoys.

I think DD will and is already taking personal charge of this matter for the reasons already given, DD is not an individual who conducts his business via the media let alone halfit ex players trying to be relevant.

Keep the faith, HH.

Best just ignoring Charlie Nicholas. He talks pish and works for a bunch of zionists who hate our club because of our pro Palestinian support.

We will find out soon, hopefully, if DD has decided to take King on after he called him out. If he does we will soon be back on track, but he's presided over our decline these last few years, so it doesn't seem a forgone thing. I hope Kings taunts had the same effect on him as it did on the rest of us. Bring that barstewards down. Over to you DD, you going to take it and roll over or start throwing punches?

i posted a while back that i thought the way we were going that it looked like dd had had enough of playing with his toy and was passing it on either to a family member or a buyer but finding a buyer in the current climate wouldn't be easy so it would probably stay in the family for now.

02 Mar 2021 13:52:20
I can’t see DD allowing his son to have a seat on the Celtic board after years of dominance and then sitting back to become 2nd best. No Chance.

02 Mar 2021 13:59:18
Desmond is doing what he has always done. He appoints people to the board that he has faith in. He gives them their remit and let's them get on with it.

He will give them free reign to make decisions and will only get invloved when necessary. He wants Celtic to be a strong business and self-sufficient but is smart enough to know that to obtrain that, they need success on the park because of the sphere in which we operate.

Now people may or may not like him for the way he handles things but you can't argue with the success both on and off the park, that we have had under his tenure.

I agree BuzzBomb, 'if a job's worth doing' and all that.
