Another week, another bookie's favourite. This time it's Steve Clarke. He's an interesting one because he definitely wouldn't be a lot of peoples' first choice (myself included) but he probably ticks a lot of the boxes. He's tactically and organisationally very good and has a proven track record of coaching players to achieve great things under some of the best managers about and as a manager in his own right - taking Scotland to our first major tournament in 20 years, leading West Brom to a top half PL finish and Kilmarnock into Europe. Taking Scotland to the Euros would suggest that he'd be suited to navigating the dreaded European qualifiers and the fact Kilmarnock beat us and Rangers multiple times while he was there says that under him we'd be better set up against the big boys who've routinely hammered us lately. His teams aren't famous for playing a particularly exciting brand of football but if he was to take over at Celtic where he's generally top dog, rather than underdog, he might be inclined to try and change that perception.

I wanted Steve Clarke to be our manager and then Ronnie appeared from nowhere.

I think he has certainly had a tune out of guys like McGregor and Christie for Scotland when they were in pretty poor form for Celtic earlier in the season. The only fear would be that he tries to bring in Considine or, worse yet, McBurnie lol.

No chance he would come, the crap and abuse he got when he was at Killie would put him off Ever wanting the job.

McBurnie wouldn’t say Celtic or even consider signing for us.

Jon Bhoy Stevie Clarke would have two things to consider if offered the Celtic job. The abuse that Neil Lennon has had for 20 years since the first day he arrived in Scotland and signed for Celtic and the abuse he is currently taking from a section of the Celtic support after all he’s achieved over two decades as a player and manager. I think the latter would have a bigger impact on my decision personally than the former.

I like Stevie Clarke, very capable and disciplined manager/ coach. Overachieved at Killie on a shiestring budget and has got Scotland to our first senior tournament since France 98.

However, on the back of the abuse he took from the cloven hooved followers of darkness, when he was at Killie, meant he would never take on the Celtic job.

He has been on record saying he would not want the Celtic or Sevco job if offered.

11 Feb 2021 20:24:01
Tony if I’m not on record as saying I wouldn’t take the sevco job with a gun at ma head and ma life depended on it could you record it please?

You might be correct JFP but I thought he said he would not touch any of the clubs because of the bigotry but I could be wrong.

I'm at the stage of any manager will do. Change can't come quick enough.
