The 11 Celtic players known as the ‘Lisbon Lions’only lined up 11 times together for Celtic.
The first was January 14th 1967 in a 4-0 victory away to St. Johnstone.
The Lisbon Lions played 5 games before Lisbon and 5 games after they all won the European cup.
They won 6 games with 4 drawn and their only defeat was against Dynamo Kiev 2-1 in a European game at Celtic Park.

Joe McBride was a massive Celtic fan who was brought up only 200 yards from Ibrox stadium.
Joe made 94 appearances for Celtic and scored 86 goals.
In our famous 1966/ 67 season he received a serious knee injury in the December which kept him out of playing football for a year.
McBride still finished top goal scorer after playing only half a season with 36 goals.
Celtic played 4 European ties before his injury and Joe scored 2 goals.
In his first full 90 minutes after his injury in December ‘67 Joe scored a hat trick.
I always thought that Willie Wallace was bought from Hearts because of McBrides serious injury.
But Jock Stein actually signed Willie Wallace in November’66.
Wallace wasn’t allowed to play in Europe for Celtic for 5 months due to UEFA red tape.
In his European debut, Willie scored a double in the European cup Semi Final.
