Just endured some of the spurs v everton game. with the funds available lot of teams are poorer and what is served up as entertainment leaves a lot to be desired.

I don’t think José is the “special one” anymore.

Buzz bomb

There is something happening to football

Money is coming easier and easier in bigger and bigger bundles to players who are less and less talented or proven.

Like an infestation, there is now N opportunity to work hard, get your break and very quickly rest on your laurels and still be a multi millionaire for sitting on your bum or hiding during games

The highlights shows show the good bits and ignore the not so good bits

Football is less and less enjoyed these days as the disconnect between fans and players widens. no loyalty . no consistency. no desire to the extent witnessed back in the oneill years .

The game needs to rebalance

Competition of everything

We have our little back water league but internationally it compares awfully badly

It's a real shame

The soul has been ripped out the heart of football, even international football

Others will have a view, and whilst no fans present has made it worse lx I think there has been a deep malaise for a long time and yes " Jose" isn't what he was

He was great at inter and great at oporto and Chelsea

Long time ago.

A step in the right direction would be to put a cap on players wages.
I thought with C. V the new contracts wouldn’t be as lucrative but it doesn’t seem to be making any difference.
Money has also made International Football less appealing to the players because of the money that’s involved in club football.

{Ed007's Note - David Alaba's agent is demanding €350k per week and that's him dropped it down from the initial €400k that was put on the table as a "starting point" in their negotiations with Bayern Munich. Bayern are standing firm and won't agree to that and so far Inter Milan, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City have said they aren't interested at that level of salary.
I really don't see much changing money wise at the top level of the game, Leon but Covid could certainly cause problems for so called smaller clubs - and I include Celtic in that - the longer things go on. As long as the Pub League and other big leagues can televise games then the money keeps rolling in but in leagues where clubs rely more on matchday income there will be problems in the long term without crowds.}

Your right Ed.
The gap is going to increase between the big leagues and the rest.

{Ed007's Note - I've been saying it for years mate but the quicker they all bugger off and start their Super League the better it'll be for the rest of football.}

Sky tv, bt, premier sport, uefa, fifa, and every other money making organisation is responsable for the situation football now find's it's self in. No longer is it possible to achìve what our club did in 1967 because they have allowed football players to earn more money in one month, than the people paying to watch them can earn in a lifetime.

I think the idea of a "Super League" is atrocious. It would be like our domestic game with teams playing each other 4 and 5 times a season if the CL was kept going. Even that was getting really monotonous until the one-off games recently. Smaller merger leagues could freshen things up a bit. Maybe Scotland and England, Spain and Portugal etc.
