I see Chris Julien being linked with Napoli.
Hypothetical question if big offers come in for Julien and Ajer would you take them, and spend the profit on 3 or four other CDs.

No it takes us months to complete 1 transfer. 3/ 4 won't be in the door until season 2025.

Good question jonace. I've got no doubts we need another CB. But to those who are saying Ajer and Jullien (current champions) aren't good enough, what would you value them at? And how much of that do you actually think we would spend on replacements? People wanting shot of Ajer but I've also seen him valued at 20m 🤣. We really are fickle.

Personally i'd want to make a few million on Jullien but Ajer I would want around 20m for. Even then I'd feel a big side from a big league would be getting a bargain. Top young centre half.

I wouldn't sell both. I would prefer to keep Ajer and sell Jullien if we had to sell one. Ajer shows real passion for the Jersey and would be my top pick for captain when broony hangs up his boots.

would happily see both move on. would imagine we will get a decent fee for Ajer. Would cut our lossed with julian. he steps up when in a 3 for the big games but gets thrown about when a physical striker is nearby.

How much would you want for Ajer DK? And which CB aged 22 or under, that's won titles, has European experience, is a title winner and has captained a senior side do you think we could attract?

There was a time last season where most people on here were touting Ajer as a hot-property that we could get £15-20m and speculation of him leaving for a top European club.
Maybe his head was turned or his changing agent was unsettling? However, he is still one of our best players, who as I said before - needs an experienced proper centre half to complete his transition from the talented ball-carrying midfield player to natural defender.
He is only 22 and we should be building a defense around him.

*I was meant to mention that he was a full international instead of winning titles twice.

12 Aug 2020 17:50:03
think we could easily get North of £15m for him. I much prefer Ajer to julian and he would be the one id build my defence around however i understand that the chances are he will eventually want to move on so why not part ways now while clubs are interested.

That is an argument I can get my head around to be fair regarding the best time to sell a player. Would rather have a '15m' centre back on the park though than a negative net spend.

Jim Tim

Ajer is NOT a top centre half
He shouldn't even be a centre half

What is it that he does exactly that makes you think he is a top class centre half?

I like how he steps out
I like his versatility
His age is a bonus
His experience is a bonus

But if you consider tackling heading, positional sense, decision making. I'm sorry but I don't know what you are seeing

Every time he is properly tested he is found wanting. slight embellishment there but he is not a centre half

I think he would be a decent deep lying midfielder . of someone wanted to pay 10m for him I'd be looking at it . at 20m you'd buy the taxi .

Weirdly values doesn't mean much these days anyway . there is so much money and people mad enough to pay it but if they are all doing the same thing ( an internal market) then they are all at equilibrium and so players have mil value in reality.

We are not part of that big 4 league internal market and so we get the benefit of others eagerness and silliness.

Ridiculous comments on here. Jullien was class for us last season and Ajer is a good young defender. One bad game and the panic merchants selling the spine of our team.

Jullien over Ajer every day of the week for me.

I said he was a top young centre half, Lubo. He's not the finished article but he's got the capacity to improve so much. I'll ask again; which CB aged 22 or under, that's won titles, has European experience, is a full international and has captained a senior side do you think we could attract for the same money?
