For me the mistake NL made yesterday was changing the formation, I get that in a European match against much better opposition why he would do that but not here in Scotland and against a team that play the same way against us every time. Although to be fair the last time we were as poor at rugby park we lost the match, so a draw when we were so poor is not the end of the world. Teams in Scotland have now figured out how to stop us when we play the 4 at the back with 2 in centre midfield so for the life of me I can't understand why we went there and played with that formation. In these types of games you have to control the centre of the pitch, 3 in the centre of the pitch and start fazing Brown out. Get the ball wide and in behind them, my fear is that because we have brought Mo back he will go 4 at the back most of the time to accommodate him.

I don't know why Lennon would revert back to the 4-2-3-1 just to fit Moi in, we played a 3-5-2 where he played up front with Eddie.
The game away to Lazio springs to mind where it worked very well, Lennon got it wrong which isn't the first time, he then is either to stubborn during the game to change it or just hasn't a clue.
Everyone could see it wasn't working at the weekend but again he waits until the 67th min to make a change, then one of the most baffling thing of the day was he leaves Taylor on (who didn't look like he could have hit the side of the titanic with a cross) and then brings Boli on with 3 mins to go!
I mean what did he expect Boli to do in that time.

10 Aug 2020 20:24:07
Yea he is still making crazy decisions jonbhoy 🤔
I think Taylor was maybe carrying a knock from previous week and should have been subbed a bit earlier.

10 Aug 2020 20:34:04
I think we should be going with 3 at the back all the time now, maybe his reluctance is incase of an injury while playing the 3 CB's leaves us no options?

I would also like to see a midfield 3 from Calmac, Christie, Ntcham and Soro from now on. Although I don't think that will happen either.

I know we are all armchair managers but as far as I see it, if we have 3 CB's we play 3 at the back if that's our best and most successful formation, you don't go back to a formation that Lennon admitted himself last year had became stale and teams had sussed out just in case we get an injury because that may not happen and if it does then you deal with it then
Also if you were any kind of a manager and not a yes man, you would get your arse up the stair into PL's office and get him told to get the deals done NOW and not in the last week of the window as we have 2 games a week for almost the whole season, unless we arse up the CL qualifying ties.

{Ed007's Note - Lennon's not allowed upstairs and he's definitely not allowed near Pedro's office without making an appointment.}

10 Aug 2020 21:38:20
So why do you think he changed the formation at the weekend jonbhoy.

Ed

PL watches the games, like us

NL shouldn't need to run up the stairs

The problem is that when we are winning, few people care. And yet, with win after win we fail to detect our frailties until a bang average European team or a half decent well drilled domestic opponent decides to test our resilience.

I love to see improvement in the all round performance.

My top 5 areas this year, ie what I am looking for or hoping for

A breakthrough season for a 2nd striker

Ajer and Julien to toughen up

Frimpong to come through a series of tests that will demonstrate that he has what it takes to be a full back not merely a glorified wingback ( who can and often does nullify Forrest)

We need a Forrest equivalent on other side who is consistent and delivers good stats

And we need a Christie or equivalent in the CAM role to stamp their authority in that position, home and away.

{Ed007's Note - "NL shouldn't need to run up the stairs" 😂😂😂
NL couldn't run up any stairs unless it was to the bar or a bit of strange's flat. The Celtic manager stuffing Snus into his gub on national TV was... shall we just say classy?
I'm not going to say where I'd like to see improvement but it would be best for the long term progression and our continuing dominance than any player - even James McClean 😁

10 Aug 2020 22:02:53
neither was anyone else hence rodgers leaving n before that a yes man like deila.

{Ed007's Note - Lennon is Lawwell's ultimate yes man, Liam - why else do you think he got the job? Lennon knows what sides his bread's buttered and Lawwell has him over a barrel knowing that his rep as a manager or coach was/is in the gutter and he'll never get another management position of any note again. Did KT realise the step back the Club was taking?
Lennon was appointed because Lawwell knew that he would accept him running the football side of things as a DOF without the actual title. Lennon's job is to get the best out of the players Lawwell decides to sign.}

10 Aug 2020 22:07:24
Can james mcclean play centre half Even for just the games on plastic or when opponents inexplicably opt to not play midgets ( very unfair) .

{Ed007's Note - He could put in a shift as a LWB, McClean or Bolingoli?}

10 Aug 2020 22:10:08
Ed, also re NL you sound fattist and you clearly think he'd struggle to get up stairs.

I have seen just how fast he can run. watch him at Lennox town when the ice cream van comes. it was NL that injured LG. apparently they had a punch up over a flake.

{Ed007's Note - Was the "flake" a married woman?}

10 Aug 2020 22:18:51
Well PL as DofF. what a complete joke that is . an EGO as wide as the Clyde in that case

I think this has been the issue for a while now . a CE who is bigger than the club or thinks he is . our majority shareholder is very short sighted

Ed, do you think NL will survive the season?

{Ed007's Note - Lennon needs to win the league - which I think he will - it's as simple as that. For me once the 10 is done and dusted it's time that we look for a new CEO to freshen things up and take us forward, if that means Lennon moving on then all the better for the progression of the team and Club although I wouldn't be against him staying on as a No.2 but his ego won't allow that.
I've been saying it for years that Celtic like to act like a big Club but very rarely show it and imo a lot of that is down to PL's decisions, he seems happy to be the big fish in a wee pond while where we are as a Club, our wage bill and our recent trophy history should see us destroying everyone domestically and making some kind of in-roads in Europe. Neil Lennon is out of his depth when it comes to Europe.}

10 Aug 2020 22:22:49
i agree with all of that we all know that and lawless grooming JK to be an even bigger yes man when lennon goes.

{Ed007's Note - JK will go elsewhere to earn his stripes unless we get a quality DOF in to run the footballing side and allow JK just to run the first team.}

10 Aug 2020 22:23:33
Oh dear . probably

I think Derek mcinnes and alfredo morelos where in the vicinity of the ice cream van too.

I have no idea mate but It wasn't only this weekend he changed it for, he also changed it for the first game which I know we won but we were murder in the first half.
People are saying its because we only have 3 fit CB's or that Griff isn't fit so we can only play 1 up front.
The thing is that Bitton is good enough to play CB in the SPL so is Elhamed who if he stays fit I would actually play before Ajer.
We also have Moi who can play up front with Eddie and then we have Klimala who really needs to get a chance but again we will see Lennon going back to his old ways of playing his wee favourite players no matter how they play.

11 Aug 2020 08:32:17
Well we live in hope that Sunday is the wake up call that they all need.

And I didn't know when I wrote the post last night about the 4 days off and the Boli situation, absolute shambles to say the least.

Is the pressure starting to get to everyone already so early, very unprofessional.

10 Aug 2020 23:28:18
Is that what that was Ed we was questioning wtf Lennon was putting in his gub, my sister thought it was them dissolvable mint things lol.

11 Aug 2020 11:45:41
Ed really? Manager must appoint himself to director to speak with him? Was it the same with Rodgers?
