With the only movement in the market players going out, Ed do you think the current squad has enough quality to see us through the qualifying stages and make a solid start to the league campaign.
Whats your thoughts on our squad at present and where do you think we will strengthen.
{Ed007's Note - The squad we have is good enough to continue to dominate Scottish football but Bain getting injured would be a disaster. I'm not holding out much hope for CL qualification without some serious investment in the team.
The defence is still up in the air with question marks over Ajer's future and Elhamed's long term - even short term - fitness and although Taylor is starting to look the part would he be good enough in the CL this season? We also need an out and out CAM if we are going to play 4-2-3-1 and for when we play 3-5-2 we need another striker on top of Edouard, LG and Klimala. Mikey Johnston needing an op means we're short on the left hand side in the 4-2-3-1 and if Elyounoussi gets injured or tired it could be a problem.
We also have the likes of Welsh, Robertson and Dembele knocking on the first team door which is a positive.
The GK situation is the priority to get sorted, either a new No.1 or an understudy to Bain but it needs sorted out asap.
Where do I think we'll strengthen? GK, CB, LB (or a CB who can play LB too) LW/LM or someone who can play across the AM 3 and a striker.}

Agree with you on the areas that need strengthening. i had hoped that Hammond coming in then there would maybe be a different approach to recruitment. ie get players in earlier.
Seems old habits die hard. am sure they are working hard but its frustrating.
{Ed007's Note - Hammond, NL, Kennedy etc would all have liked to get signings in early but apart from the mess Covid's caused in football they all have the Lawwell effect to deal with. When does he ever "swoop" early for players lol.}

We never make signings early. we don't want to be paying wages for people not working we wait till the last min so once they sign the get straight to work. I don't see why we need another striker when we need a keeper as our priority position to fight with bain. We need a lb and cb more importantly than a striker.

Ed is the likes of Hazard nowhere near good enough then? And if not, what's the point of him being at the club?
{Ed007's Note - Hazard is a good young 'keeper but for me he needs to be out on loan playing games and gaining experience. Just imagine the stick the lad would get from Celtic when he made any mistakes - and he will make them - so he's be better off out on loan learning his trade in competitive matches.}
