I don't see why footballers should be exempt from this wages cut if everyone else has too most at bigger clubs in Scotland and especially in England where some players get enough to pay 15 nurses for a year in a weeks wages at the end of the day football is a hobby and a privilege to play in big games with all the fans in stadium never mind crazy wages in a week people don't get working 20 long hard years I think especially English Premiership should take a percentage of the players wages to help NHS and realise how good they have life.

{Ed007's Note - Football isn't a hobby if it's your job, and what about all those TV presenters and actors that are getting millions a year in wages? What about people in government - whose job it is to actually fund the NHS yet they have continually cut budgets and even applauded winning votes in Parliament to halt NHS pay rises etc - like Jacob Rees-Mogg who has a personal wealth of over £150 million?
Peter Lawwell is the highest earning employee at Celtic, why should players on less money than him take a pay cut on a legally binding contract, players will already be out of pocket as it is with no football there's no bonuses and their image rights money will also take a hit.
Why should players take a hit to fund the NHS instead of taking a hit to help the homeless, help starving or abused kids or even the sick/disabled & unemployed?}

Everyone else is taking hit why shouldn't they I include lawell and everyone else at other clubs on big wages do you think cause there on big wages makes them exempt like everyone else in Britain who is off on lower wages.

{Ed007's Note - It's nothing to do with any exemption it's about what is written in legally binding contracts. My questions are why now, why the NHS that the government has destroyed and why should football players bail out the government of their own mess?
By the way, you do know that if you earn over £150k a year in Scotland you pay 46% (45% in England) in income tax alone - aren't they giving enough to the government as it is?}

This is exactly what the tory government want. Distract the public from their failings with look at they big bad footballers and the public fall for it everytime. When are people going to wise up.

{Ed007's Note - And yet the Tories and the morons that voted for them have the brass neck to post videos of them standing at their doors applauding the NHS and other key workers.
If I had my way the hospitals should be asking folk who they voted for and if you voted Tory then you go to the bottom of the queue for ANY treatment, how many of them would be proud to admit they voted Tory then?}

Ive never got my head round the tax thing. So if someone earns £125k they take home more than someone on £150k. Surely u would say to your employer to pay u £149k instead.

{Ed007's Note - In Scotland the higher rate of 41% is paid on taxable income over the Personal Allowance from £30,931 to £150,000. In England, Wales and Northern Ireland the higher rate of 40% is paid on taxable income over from £37,501 to £150,000.
In Scotland the higher rate of 41% is paid on taxable income over the Personal Allowance from £30,931 to £150,000.
The difference in Scottish tax on £150k and £149k works out at about £8k p.a. Steph, they probably don't mind paying that as it lets them brag/moan about being in the top bracket}

Still have a ceiling on natiall inside think this is wrongj.

I'll never need to worry about it, I'll just get on with trying to claim universal credit.

{Ed007's Note - Good luck with everything mate.}

Dunno about bragging about being in the top bracket Ed. Remember that lunatic on Question Time who claimed he was on £80k a year but wasn't even in the top 50% 😂.

{Ed007's Note - 😁

Cheers ed. They certainly don't make it easy. Been paying tax for 20 odd years, its easy to pay that but I've never had to sign on (thank God) so don't know how the system works and its not easy. I'll get there tho.

{Ed007's Note - Och I can tell you how the system works, firstly they'll be all nicey nicey as they divvy up endless forms to fill in - forms that ask questions you'd be embarrassed to answer to your doctor - then when the forms are all done they'll tell you what you're entitled to and just as you're thinking that you'll guddle through and get by they'll flip you over one fell swoop and f**k you straight up the a$$ as they lovingly whisper into your ear what you still have to pay out which is ALWAYS more than they're giving you.}

Take a bow Ed. Some great words there.

Keep paying all the players top whack whilst the club is not bringing in any income, result the club, any club, will go bankrupt, or cancell all the players contracts and let the players take the club's through the legal process, a long lengthy overloaded legal process, or come to some agreement with the players to take a reduction on wages, and this isn't taking a hit for the NHS, it's taking a hit to save our club and every other club in Scottish football, and I voted labour in the last election, but it wasn't because of that Corbyn.
