There's absolutely no doubt last night was a huge disappointment, but let me ask you this Bhoys. Would you trade our current league position for a run to the latter stages of the Europa League. I know my answer 🍀.

{Ed007's Note - I would, we could easily afford to be only 8/9/10/11 points ahead in the league and still win it.}

Agree1 Disagree0

I wouldn’t trade our current position. Now we can go on and make more domestic history.

{Ed007's Note - Trade what for it? We're 12 points clear so couple of points would be a fair trade, we wouldn't be in our current position points wise, we'd still be going for more domestic history and still in Europe.}

I wouldn’t trade a few points to stay in Europe.
I couldn’t care less about Europe. As far as I’m concerned it’s only a distraction.

{Ed007's Note - See it's that kind of attitude that has got us the CEO/board and manager we have AND a fargin vegan food stall at Celtic Park - SHOCKING!!}

I'm gutted about seeing how Copenhagen got in the draw today. Istanbul, I think they got the weakest team of the draw and would of fancied our chances had we bet copenhagen.

28 Feb 2020 21:45:56
Sorry but I don't buy I to this "one or the other" stuff. We had a chance to do something really special at home AND in Europe and blew it big time. If Europe is such a distraction for us then it would be just as much of a distraction for Rangers so there's no reason that it would affect the points gap in the league.

C'mon Philtim I know of at least one weaker team Copenhagen could of got 😁.

28 Feb 2020 22:25:12
Phil, Copenhagen were the weakest team we could have drawn in the last round and we couldn’t get past them.

Bang on kev Bhoy! See this what postion would u rather be in questing it’s nonsense! Is it wrong to want both! We have made a can't of a golden opportunity to progress to the lattter stages of a major European competition! The league has f**k all to do with it! That’s twice in knockout competition we’ve played away first and got a good result then came back to paradise and got pumped! Against 2 average at best teams, losing 7 goals in the process! It was like watchn a re run of the cluj game honestly! It’s nowhere near good enough and fans have every right to ask question! We all want 9 and 10 in a row but let’s or pretend that games like last nite are somehow a free hit!

The great Celtic teams managed both under big Jock and MON and thet never had the size of squad we have today.
Our biggest handicap is sacrificing quality for quantity as very few of todays players were a patch on the sides of Lisbon, San Siro and Seville and we have developed a 'small club mentality' drummed into us by the fear of what happened to Oldco and it will not change with the current Board and emphasis on profit and business above greatness.

I would trade being 5 points behind Sevco to still be in Europe. Europe is where progress growth and success is measured, not in the central belt of Scotland.
Would you rate Copenhagen any more if they had won the danish league 10 times in a row? .

29 Feb 2020 03:23:18
If rather have both. It was a terrible result at home against an average team.

Same here, with th e squad we have we should be wanting to do well in both domestic and Europe, by doing well in Europe will attract better players. But lawell and board, possibly lennon aswell, seem happy plodding along in spl. You should always strive to win everything you enter and be the best, we certainly weren't at best on Thursday night.

28 Feb 2020 22:11:05
You are probably correct Ed. It is shocking but I’ve never been able to motivate myself for something we are not going to win. There has only been a few occasions I’ve took the 3 game package. It’s all been about winning and dominating Scottish football for me. If the board in the January window would have given me hope that something special was achievable then perhaps my views and opinions would be different. To be fair I still wouldn’t change the memories from the Seville run although it handed them the treble.

Like all of us on here I’m gutted / annoyed about the result and performance from us the other night. However where people say we could have had a special euro run this year I’m not so sure. We just aren’t consistent enough when we step up to European level, there is always a chance of a “Cluj or Copenhagen “ type game within us. I know we beat Lazio this season but it was back to the wall stuff for us in both games at times and we got a last minute goal in each game. It’s always heart in the mouth stuff for us in Europe, where as years ago teams used to come to Celtic and feel intimidated now they seem to relish the atmosphere and perform better than normal.
Let’s not forget that Copenhagen are well behind mjittyaland who the Rangers beat easily in the qualifiers.
We just need to build on some of our performances this season and try and get more consistency, we can’t afford to play two decent half’s over a two leg game.
In fact I can’t remember the last game where we have played well for 90 mins .

The only reason we are so far ahead in the league is because The rangers having had a run of bad results, it put a whole gloss on some pretty bad performances in the league where we have scraped wins, mainly caused by Lenny not picking his most creative midfield.
