Just read a bbc article about Andreas Thom and him being the first player to transfer from East to West Germany after the wall came down. Didn’t know that and interesting to read his thoughts on it, but what got my attention was the article mentioned he was part of the squad to stop the 10 in ‘98. Was he injured that season? Can’t recall him playing with Henrik or Harold 🤔.

{Ed007's Note - Andy Thom left Celtic in January '98 and had played in 15 league matches by then so was entitled to a league winners medal.}

I thought Andy Thom was a fabulous player he was like the proverbial off a shiny shovel. I think from memory we paid about £2.5m for him and that’s over 20 years ago.

It was a club record at the time.

Scored a belter against the mob that went in like a missile in a fantastic 3-3 game
Sure he was also the 1st east German to get capped for the unified German national team.
Definitely played the 98 season and is quite rightly seen as part of the squad that stopped the ten.

Remember it well Kev was watching it in the bath and came skiting across the floor in the bathroom as it went in 😂.

He was a feckin brilliant player! So good on the ball and could hit a lightening bolt of a shot.

I remember the delayed reaction to that goal keV I'm sure 90% if the fan's missed the fact it went in it happened that fast lol.

Andy Thom was a brilliant player in the first third and last third of the season.
In the winter months Andy’s form dropped dramatically, especially away from home.
I was at brokers that day when he scored that screamer. I also bet him for first goal but I had Thom and Celtic to win 1-0.No cigar.
