I didn't want to say this before the game in case I jinxed it but there is such a noticeable difference with Lennon when it comes to Europe. I'm not one who's going to ever forget or play down some of the amazing moments BR gave us but when it comes to Europe Lennon just seems to have that extra something. It may be because he's been there and done it as a player but he always seems to really relish the big European ties and is vocal in his belief in the players and his excitement and passion in the build up, whereas I didn't always feel that was the case with BR who was always more measured. The enthusiasm seems to rub off on the players.

There’s a ruthlessness under Lennon taking big big chances at big big moments.

Lennon really has brung the thunder back the best two memorable results away from home of mine are Spartak away and lazio Away superb love last minute goals it’s what Celtic’s all about never say never.

For me it's because Lennon is willing to win at all cost. He is willing to sacrifice style to do it.
Rogers wanted constant open passing football and sometimes that just left us to open and vulnerable.

The previous managers ego was considerably bigger than his brain. (I read his book) . His lack of humility meant he repeatedly tried it Brendan’s way in Europe despite mounting evidence time after time that it didn’t work. We took some of our biggest humpings in Europe under him. Neil Lennon irrespective of any other failings he may or may not have is (1) more intelligent (2) doesn’t suffer from the same ego problem and consequently is willing to change and win ugly and (3) it’s just a bonus but he’s got more Celtic blood in his wee Lurgan left finger than the previous manager ever had or ever will have in his body.

At times keV Lazio reminded me of us under Rogers. Players tippy tapping around until the lose confidence or interest dumping it on keeper before losing possession.

To be fair and balanced JFP Lennon has took humpings in CL as well. Mind Barcelona took 6 off one of his team's.
But I think it will happen less under Lennon than Rogers.

My biggest criticism of Lennon the last time was that he could always get the best out of his team when he could create a siege mentality. His biggest flaw was failing to win the games he was expected to. This time around he seems a lot more mature and has been able to get the team up for both types of games.

{Ed007's Note - Will we just forget Cluj, Livi and Hibs, did you not expect him to win them and what about Ibrox last year?}

Of course not but all managers drop points in games they should win. BR never won a game at Easter Road for instance. Last time Lennon's record at Hampden was woeful but this time I have a lot more confidence. Cluj was a disaster and unforgivable but overall I've been pleasantly surprised with how things have gone.

{Ed007's Note - If Lennon's "biggest flaw was failing to win the games he was expected to" what's changed since then with the losses to Livi and Cluj and the draw at Hibs, weren't they games he was expected to win?
How did he "get the team up" at Livi or Hibs, how did he "get the team up" to hold onto a lead for 14 mins that could have got us a big step nearer the CL?}

He didn't on those occasions and I think you know I wasn't suggesting he did Ed. The fact that he hasn't won every game doesn't mean there hasn't been any improvement.

{Ed007's Note - I never said there wasn't any improvement though and I think you know I wasn't suggesting that. If you want to be pedantic about this read back your quotes that I've used and answer those questions, you're contradicting yourself.

You: "His biggest flaw was failing to win the games he was expected to."

Me: He didn't win against Cluj, Livi and Hibs - all games he was expected to win.

You: "This time around he seems a lot more mature and has been able to get the team up for both types of game"

Me: Forget the romantic fanboy pish about him maturing, why didn't - or couldn't - he get the team up for Livi or Hibs and hwy didn't - or couldn't - he get the team up to see a CL game out that we were winning for 14 (that's FOURTEEN) minutes?

As we were so keen to remind TRIFC fans the other week, you don't win anything in October or November, what happens if we don't win the league this season, will all the creepy fanboys be backing Lennon if we lose the League Cup final or the derby next month?}

You'd need to ask one of them as I'm certainly not one. He gets pelters when it's due and praise by the bucket load after nights like last night. He made a rip-roaring mess of Cluj, Hibs we were p! sh (but could easily have had 2 penalties) , Livi we were rotten - all undeniable. But compared to last time I'd never have fancied us to get through 2 semi-finals and a final at Hampden under Lennon and win them all. We've had a decent wee tussle tonight but I'm turning in now and look forward to normal service resuming with the other Kev doing the arguing 😂. Pleasure as always Ed.

{Ed007's Note - Night mate, God bless 🙏
