For me the most pleasing thing about the game last night was the performance. The high intensity fast paced moving of the ball was a joy to watch. That's a style of football we've not been used to in a while. Not getting carried away as the opponents were poor at best. Mid to lower half SPL standard. However if we can continue with this style of play and add three or four more quality players then I for one am looking forward to see what this team can achieve. As most have said Christie is an incredible young player. His energy, attitude and quality are a joy to watch. Felt a bit emotional myself when Griff bagged his goal after all the wee man has went through. And I never thought I'd find myself saying this but I think Bitton has a part to play in the coming season.

First class post mate agree on all the above . Biton like many Celtic players seems to divide fans . not the greatest not the worst . but he is getting to that age where they say prime? He can step in multiple positions? Seems to love the club. been hampered by injuries? Could still be a huge asset for us if stays fit . last point loved the attacking last night! Last year we would have won yes but would have been pass sideways backwards yawn ☘️.

Agree totally. Was at the game and although the opposition weren't up to much, the formation and style was pleasing to the eye. Couple of more additions and we hopefully will be set for the season ahead.

Bitton is steady he can pass and read the game well plus he's calm in possession a good guy to have in the squad.

I still think we are a good bit off where we need to be. The opposition gave us all the time in the world and Motherwell would have beat them. It doesn’t take away the fact we still went out and done the job.
The balance of the team is still not there yet, probably because the full backs have been changed. Hopefully in given time the team will only get better.

I am a fan of bitons, have been since he arrived. Every squad needs a utility player like him. He will also be good at coming on and helping to see out games.

I think getting the ball in attacking areas quicker, more incisive and with passes that were a bit more risky is something we all wanted to see. As for Bitton though, he's alright playing CB against teams like that but any higher and he'll get murdered. There's a reason we all wanted a good CB brought in this summer whilst Nir was warming the bench.

Jim he's only filling in till we get a settled back 4 he'll be back in the midfield soon wnough.

They were a poor side - even though they were champions of their country - but so were Sarajevo and the performance between last night and those games was much, much better and I have to say one of the most enjoyable, attacking displays of footbaall since NL took over.
Going by last night with the fact that we have almost a full squad to pick from - plus maybe more additions, it is very encouraging indeed.

Don't think anyone looking to him as a full time CB jim.

25 Jul 2019 14:50:33
So what part will he have to play then bhoys? 'Cos it certainly ain't at CM.

25 Jul 2019 14:55:42
If your away from home in Europe he can sit i front of the back 4 and going to the crumbledome when you need extra midfielders he's def got a part to play.

25 Jul 2019 15:21:02
Jim he will play CM at certain times and certain games. He will be a squad player and a back up.
Every squad needs that or else's it we would just sign 16 0r 17 players.

So it'll be a case of 'as you were'. Glad we're on the same page. My initial response was to the OP who seemed to be suggesting (all credit Ice Man did say he couldn't believe he was saying it) that he might play more.

Jim I’ll be honest mate I didn’t think we’d see big Biton in a hooped jersey again after failing to make a single appearance under the previous manger albeit he was injured for a period of time. To clear it up though I certainly don’t see him playing a part in the centre of defence once big Julien is up to speed and potentially with another CH coming in. I think he is a decent squad player to introduce into the midfield if we had injuries or suspensions etc. The big fella is pretty consistent and reliable if not spectacular.

Of course he will play more. He was injured all last season.
