With potential leaks coming from the club. Does anyone think the club could be starting rumours with certain people to try and catch out who it is?

I worked with a company who used to advertise for the various job positions (offshore drilling rigs) in the papers under a box number with no company named.
They did this:
1. To see who might be unhappy and want a change.
2. To judge what size of pay rise they should consider.
3. To see if any of their supervisors applied.
Not uncommon for companies etc. to use the system for information,
