Adam Matthews has been released by Sunderland on a free, would any fans on here consider having him back.

Maybe as back up to someone else but never first team.

Haven't seen much of him since he left, but aye :D.

Liked him when he was at Celtic but if Sunderland don't want him then he's not good enough for us. What's next? Big Majstorovic?

A tough one, rated him highly when he was with us but his career seems to have stalled a fair bit since then, chronic lack of games in the last 4 years.

No he was another Hooper thought the grass was greener.

"Never go back. " That goes for players and managers, it usually ends in disappointment and regret.

Was reading about him at weekend and realised he's only 27.
If I thought we were getting a the player he should have become I'd have bitten your hand off for him but he never became that player. Through injuries and being at a basket case of a club his development just stalled.
So I'd steer clear of him to be honest.

Yeah, why not. And at time same time sign up Lustig and give Stokes, Hooper, Sammy, Mulgrew and Murphy a shout.
Maybe Larsson, Lubo, Sutton, McStay and Mjalby will come out of retirement also.

So you wouldn't have Virgil or Victor back OAB.
03 Jun 2019 11:03:32
Absolutely not. Lustig would be a perfectly good back up, who could also step into CB in some lesser games, but we need a really good quality RB this summer.

Bit of a difference bringing back a world class player at the the top of his game who just competed in the UCL final to bringing back a player who's career has totally stalled and has been released by a side who plays in the 3rd tier of English football.

Reading OAB's post Kev83 looks to me like he means all ex players managers.

Can only comment during my lifetime, A Glasgow Green; but Andy Walker, Charlie Nicholas, Frank McAvennie, Shaun Maloney and Izzy have all came back a second time and never repeated the form or standards set during their first stint. The only player I can name that benefited from a second spell was the great Bertie Auld.
It's just an opinion I have about 'second comings'.

Cheers for replying OAB, that's why I like this forum, we all have our own opinions and are free to express them here HH.
