I'm not going to moan about Lennon appointment anymore. Think I bought into my in-laws bull crap and really believed we were going for a Bielsa type. I study tactics, systems, training methods in my spare time and the thought of having someone like that at my club got my pants wet 🤷🏻‍♂️

And see this crap about not wanting to play out grom the back! So you'd want to just have the keeper punt the ball up now? Name me one good team who play like that? 3year ago we started playing out from the back and keeping possession, guess what?! We done 3trebles playing like that! If you think that's a coincidence you really don't know much about football tbh.

Playing out from the back is the modern game and is fine, what we need to cut out is the passing around at the back. When the defenders get the ball players further forward need to make sure they are available rather than passing around between the back 4 and keeper till 1 of the make a mistake.

{Ed007's Note - It's not the defence that are slowing the game down it's Scott Brown. When he gets the ball he should be getting his head up and moving the play forward and getting the team on the front foot, he doesn't do that and ends up just passing it back to the defence or it's a short sideways pass that usually just comes back to him. Our main playmaker can't do the job he's being asked to do and it's as plain as the nose on your face, throw in Rogic and the 2 main creative positions are not up to scratch, nowhere near it.}

He said he wanted to cut down on the amount of touches we have because unless you've got some sort of memory loss we were conceding goals and giving away possession too easy. and btw this was being said on here when st Brendan was coach.

{Ed007's Note - Since January we've played 23 domestic games (league and cup) and lost one game, we kept 17 clean sheets while conceding 7 goals so I don't see how you can say we were conceding goals.}

Every good team plays out from the back to ensure possession, but it's what happens with that possession that was really matters.
Players need to be comfortable on the ball - especially under pressure - and be able to find space and pick the right pass at the right time, with quick movement and pace - creating chances.
The team are certainly very good at retaining possession, but some opponents were wise to our style of play and kept us at bay more and more, as we became predictable and our build up was slow; as after the invincible season, we lacked that bit of drive, flair and slick passing-interchanges to overcome stuffy defenses.
Playing without a recognized number 9 and lacking creativity in midfield contributed to some below par performances recently - as did the injury crisis and change of management.
It's been pointed out we lack a plan B when we struggle to break teams down or can't create enough chances; so there is work to do in the personnel and tactical department before next season.

@Mally. Memory is bang on bud. I’m talking about fans wanting to stop playing from the back. Not going to criticise Lennon anymore until see what way he has us playing next season. As a player I loved Lennon. I was there when he got booed at home playing Stuttgart because he passed the ball backwards.

Have to agree with EDS regarding brown slowing the play down. He lacks the passing ability and vision, wee Callum in there always has the head up looking forward for quick pass. Rogic is a burst ball for me I’d punt him in a heartbeat. Surely we can get better in there.

The potential at our club has is huge.

Your right ed we haven't conceded many goals apart from Europe when we can't keep possession. usually after big Gordon skims one out to lustigs head. but we were commenting on here at the time that we were over doing it in some games. I am all for it but you need good players to play this way especially against better teams. salzburg comes to mind.

{Ed007's Note - Celtic in Europe is like an inexperienced prostitute, we just need to try and protect ourselves against getting pumped rotten. The quicker the breakaway league happens the better.}

There's very little movement off the ball most the team stand and want the ball played to them when man marked. Teams know if they press us we'll lose the ball at the back and that's where we lose too many silly goals. Especially in Europe it's embarrassing some of the errors that cost us goals.

Yet right ed cringe when we try and match better teams instead of shutting up shop and nicking something.

{Ed007's Note - At European matches there's teams that we should be dominating, teams we should be cautious about and teams we just need to keep the scoreline respectable. We seem to go from one extreme to the other and play within ourselves - when we seem to inevitably shoot ourselves in the foot - against teams we can compete against and then we try and go toe to toe with your Barcas and PSGs.}

I am not sure any of us knows how to play Scot Brown's role any better than himself. We are all brilliant at telling the Board, CEO, Manager and individual players who make up the team how to do the their job . It's surprising we have all been overlooked for all the jobs.

Playing out from the back is good, but playing out from the back, then playing along the back line then passing back to the goalie then playing out from the back, ad nauseam, is bad, you need someone with the confidence and ability to pass forward or go round the opponent, when put under pressure,
