Hi Eds with the Scottish cup and old firm games on the horizon will these nail down or dump Lennon from getting the job on a full time basis or has it been decided already in your opinion?

{Ed007's Note - Do I think a decision has been made about Lennon? Yes, I'd be amazed if the board haven't decided on Lennon's future by this stage.}

Agree0 Disagree0

The way I see it right now ED is. Appoint Lennon and we will all have to brace ourselves for going backwards as Lawwell will get his own way and we will be looking at struggling to win cups and the league. If we push the boat out we will get a top class manager and improve but let’s be serious we are looking at the cheap option if it’s down to Lawwell. He will disappoint millions of fans across the world if he doesn’t do the right thing at this stage.

{Ed007's Note - I don't think we'll struggle to win the league but the cups would be a worry to me considering Lennon's past record in them. I wouldn't say we'll go backwards but I do think we'll stagnate if Lennon is appointed and the gap between us and the rest will shrink.}

So would it be a matter of naming him or waiting to tie up new man and announce new manager at end of season for respect for Lennon then?

{Ed007's Note - It's all about keeping the players focused on the job at hand.}

I would have Lenny as manager because he is a low risk in our ambition for 10 in a row but we can forget trebles for a couple of years which I am willing to except in order to guarantee the big prize.
For me that's why the cup final is massive because its a chance to make history with a treble treble and also win the scottish cup 3 years running for the first time in our history, that was always something I wanted to see in my lifetime after coming close in 1990,missing out on penalty kicks.
Lenny plays too many weakened teams in the cup competitions for us to carry on our success. Lenny did mention when he took over from Brendan, he felt our horrendous injury list this season was down to playing the same players for 3 seasons, that's why I think if Lenny was manager again he would rest some players when needed.
I won't be popular for saying I won't be bothered about europe or the cups for the next 2 seasons as long as we win 10 in a row, if we win any cups and/ or do well in europe it will be a bonus. What do my fellow hoops fans think?

I think the club are doing the right thing by not appointing Lennon for now. They're possibly keeping their options open and I imagine (at least I hope) they have a date in mind when they'll either name Lenny or someone else as the new permanent manager. I like Lenny, he comes from only 5 miles away from where I.

Rodgers rested players in the cups as well and in the league.

Ten in a row is the holy grail for me. We won't keep winning trebles but im fine with that as long as the league gets wrapped up for a few more years. Id like to see us go a run in europe tho it attracts better players.

Leon bhoy 10. I think we should be bothered about Europe and the cups. To me if we improve in Europe it can only benefit us in the league as we will be competing with teams at a higher level.
If we don't do well in Europe and the cups then it's sending out the message that the gap between us and the rest is narrowing we don't want to give them any encouragement.
I also believe that higher quality players would be attracted to the club if we can offer them European football and better quality players is the best way to try and ensure we reach the 10.

I may be wrong but I just can't get my head round if Lennon was going to get the job full time then what's the hold up in announcing it so it makes me think we have other plans and Lennon is aware of this and is happy to hold the reigns in the short term as we said further up in the thread I'm sure the club already know what the plan is.

I would be happy with a good run in europe as long as it did not become a distraction and be a hindrance to our title ambitions. I was quite happy to swap Seville for them winning the treble because of the memories but I wouldn't swap anything for 10 in a row, as steph says its the holy grail.
I think their european run stopped sevco make a better challenge this season because those extra games caught up with them and I don't expect them to win 4 qualifiers next season due to them being unseeded in the latter rounds, so I expect them to get more points next season with playing less games. Celtic can't become complacent, we need to spend serious cash that will take us to a higher level and to make sure we can't be caught.

We have set the bar so high domestically, that when we do miss out on a trophy, there is a huge danger of over-reaction.
Of course there will be delight, hysteria and relief in other quarters, but it's important that Celtic supporters keep the heid.
There is a lot of speculation about our next manager and after going LARGE after RD, it's fair to say, we would welcome another top man. However, NL will feel 'entitled' if he guides the team to 3 x 3 and it would be the convenient choice for The Board unless they have other ideas? It's probably wise we didn't go down the Man Utd route and confirm the appointment on an emotional high, but our club's circumstances were not quite the same anyway and who knows what the arrangement with NL actually entailed all-in?
Most important thing now is to get these two meaningless fixtures to bed - avoiding injury and suspension - and retain our cup; then we can hope that the people paid to make the big decisions, do the right thing and learn from previous mistakes in transfer windows.

I. Know it's all about keeping our group of players focused, but surely we need to add two or three quality players to give squad and supporters a wee lift.

I don’t think we have to OMC but it’s the obvious thing to do if we can find them. I’d be hoping for a couple low risk additions that may or may not make an impact along with a couple of higher profile players that are expected to take us up a level. Whether we can find them for a level of investment that fits in with our budgets, remains to be seen and if we don’t, I won’t be panicking. I’m hopeful that a couple of our younger developing players may be about to announce themselves to the world.
