How about a wee debate this Monday afternoon.
With the sad deaths of big Billy and Stevie Chalmers, both as highly regarded now as when they were playing 50 years ago.
Do you think modern day players like Pogba, Aguero, Sterling etc will be held in the same high regard in 50 years time.
My opinion is they will be soon forgotten in a couple of years time let alone 50 years.

Agree3 Disagree1

Tim. The players you mention would not be at their clubs if it wasn't for the sky high salaries they are on.
The Lisbon lions played football for the love of the game and all of them have remained fans of the club after they stopped playing, they will always be one of us.
I somehow can't see the likes of Sanchez or Pogba being welcomed back to Old trafford in 50 years time, but you never know.
So sad to hear of the passing of Stevie Chalmers. Thank you for your fantastic contribution to our great history and may you rest in peace.

Messi and Ronaldo but no one else really.

I do think Messi and Ronaldo will be.

Difficult to answer this one Tim as the Lions are immortal, as a team more so than as individuals, in the sense that I believe their individual legend status comes from being part of the firt british team to conquer Europe and the fantastic legacy they left under Jock Stein. If I am to think of a player (legend) who I think will still be remembered and revered in 50 years time I would haave to say "il Capitano" Francesco Totti of AS Roma who was a one club man and would easily have earned a lot more elsewhere. I am sure there are others but I live in Rome and he is the first one to come to mind.

Morelos will be for being the most cheating player ever to play in our League.

The 'World Class' tag has been abused and devalued in recent years, where absolutely crazy valuations of over-rated players has helped confuse cost with class, producing too many imposters.
Truly world class - to me - means the absolute best in the world in that position and should be limited (in football) to those who can consistently produce the extraordinary or excellent.

The Lisbon Lions were the best in Scotland, Europe and possibly the world - had the match against Racing Club of Argentina had been fairly and properly conducted on football ability alone.
In my lifetime - Puskas, Di Stefano, Pele, Maradonna, Jinky, Best, Cruyff, Beckenbaur, Greaves, Dalglish, Maldini, Baresi, Ronaldo, Messi and Larsson would possibly be WC players I have watched?
I actually think Aguero is a great striker, but far too many in the EPL are bummed-up out of all proportion by SLY and themselves.

Buffon or khan 2 world class goalkeepers. Ronaldo zidanne the old Madrid players like Carlos will live forever I believe their is plenty when you think about it. But now a days is only Messi and Ronaldo. Well never see much managers go down in history these days because they don’t last long in their jobs great manager and not to say I like the man is Alex Ferguson.

Iniesta and xavi also spring to mind.

Also batistuta at fiorentina would be another.
