Looks like we'll need to get the point we need another time. If we hadn't scored yesterday it would be getting squeaky bottom time with Aberdeen, Rangers Mark II and Hearts to play. Interestingly that's them scored 5 goals more than Celtic which tells its own story. They could without a doubt have won the league this year and certainly are closer than they've. been since their resurrection. We need investment in the summer because they will and the goals for column tells us where the priority is.

Agree3 Disagree1

Half their goals have been dodgy pens, Tavernier is about 3rd highest scorer in the league, that tells it's own story 🤔.

The lack of a 'proper' striker or even strike partnership has been a serious handicap and although Eddy and Sinky mucked in with their share, imagine the difference if we had, had any decent number nine on the end of the countless wasted corners and crosses/ pull backs.
I do think Sevco have been at their most consistent since 2012, but we are still nine points ahead (while not at our best) and have beat them twice; however the new manager - whoever it is - will want to improve the squad and hopefully address the areas that need attention.

JFP. This season has been a disaster for sevco. Our form has been poor this year yet we have won the league at a canter and Sevco have managed one semi final appearance in the cups Even Caixhina got to both semi finals.
I think our club need to be more decisive in their decision making, I can't see why they couldn't have settled the managers position by now, Neil Lennon has been manager here before so they know what he can do, if they weren't happy with him before then why is he good enough now.
It's the same old discussion we seem to have every year regarding investment, we make plenty of money but the club only seem to want to bring in loan players and projects, it would be nice for a change if we actually brought players in who actually improve us and don't just rely on the rest of the league being mediocre.

JFP
That’s 17 penalties already this season that they have had, no wonder they have most goals, anyone have stats for penalties awarded to teams this season?

Truly magical day yesterday no question about that. But that aside we were not that much better than them yesterday. And I don't get Lenny saying he doesn't want to change anything for now if he can't see what we see since he has came in and hasn't even tweaked it for the better then it's his own fault.

28 Apr 2019 17:34:38
I think Lenny must only be a stop gap, and he has been told this, I would hope I am wrong, but when I think about it, if he was going to be the permanent manager it would have been announced when he took over, maybe the players know this, or suspect it,

JFP, if we get Griff back in a good mental state then we'll have the goals we need next season. HH.

The bottom line is the bottom line though friends. They’ve beaten us this season in the league for the first time and with three games to go the league still hasn’t been won. My point is they’re not just closer they’re closer than they ever should have been.

Jfp1888 would you take in to account that we've had a season of serious turmoil for the first few weeks though?

I look at that and see that they still can't win anything when we've took some serious hits.

{Ed007's Note - I think the entire season has been turmoil when you weigh everything up. A disastrous transfer window, the Dembele and Boyata situations which probably cost us the CL, a horrendous injury list and injuries to key players like Benkovic, Brown and Rogic, KT & Christie at points etc etc the list goes on. Considering what then happened with Rodgers I think it'll be a fantastic achievement for the players to get another Treble over the line and we'll appreciate it more when we look at the bigger picture during the summer.
And fair play to Lennon for coming in and steadying the ship which again can't have been easy for a number of reasons, imagine he had came in and everything fell apart?}

You're spot on Ed, to get a treble over the line this season would be remarkable . I cannot remember a season like it for injuries, I think every first team player has had a fairly long period out through injury apart from (unbelievably) Jamesie. Many have had 2 spells out, on top of that we've had Dembele going, Griff with his problems, Boyata spitting the dummy and Rodgers bailing out at a crucial part of the season. This shows the gulf between us and the rest when despite all this we are on the verge of another treble.

RyansPappa, I looked at penalties in the league, for and against for both Celtic and sevco. I think Celtic have received 7 and conceded 4 penalties.
I think sevco have received double our tally with 14 and have conceded half our amount of only 2 in 35 league games.

Ed my post was meant to say from the 1st few weeks but you and Stevie just hit the nail on the head.

Lennon has done a fantastic job since coming in. Can’t believe some of the negative comments surrounding him. I suppose we have been spoiled with success.

Lennon has negotiated two very tricky cup ties to get to final. Won the game against Rangers and kept us on easy street in the league.

This was all achieved despite huge shock to club and players when BR bolted. Those players had Rodgers style ingrained over two very successful years. Lennon has not tried anything radical and said as much from the get go. He dropped all his commitments to rescue the club. He’s an absolute hero and Celtic legend in my eyes.
