I feel sorry mostly for the Scotland fans over 4,000 went over to Slovenia and had their hopes dashed once again.
But I am not going to be a hypocrite, because that result has HELPED Celtic. Up to now, no international games are scheduled by Scotland for November so our 7 Scottish players will get a much needed 2 week break.
Also in the summer our players were looking at playing all summer with no break then going straight into 4 rounds of CL qualifiers, this would probably have impacted on our games next season with tired players picking up strains and hamstring injuries.
So from a purely selfish Celtic point of view I am glad Scotland are not going to Russia.

Scot Brown will retire now and save his best games for us.

Giving hope to a fan of the Scots national team is like giving tequila to a Native American, not genetically build for it so it messen with the head and ultimately causes pain and suffering. WGS has out done himself with the genetics patter.

Sorry Tim but to see the hurt on the Celtic players faces on that park after that game I couldn't and won't take any comfort out of our players not playing in Russia.

Strachan recons that we are not genetically built for World Cup football so he brings on the giant Anya at 5'6''.

The team should have been built around the celtic players. 6 players who are used to playing together. Any manager would bite your hand off for that. Strachan has tried his best not to play celtic players all of the campaign becsuse he can't stand people saying that Brenden and the Bhoys are the reason scotland qualified. Only called up mcgregor because of pressure. When we need to score goals he leaves him on the bench? Numptie.

@jmac - then going by your reasoning it’s the Celtic players fault we never qualified?

Probably could have done with a few more Celtic players on the park against Slovenia more like, UJ.

There was only 3 in the team (including GK) for the draw that done us the other night UJ. Since Celtic boys came into the team we have won every game other than England draw.

IMO it's solely Strachan's fault we didn't qualify.

@jimtim - definitely. Can’t understand why McGregor never started in midfield. One of many strange decisions by GS during this campaign.

@tompo88 - I 100% agree with both your points. I would have had McGregor in the starting 11. Currently one of Scotland's best players going by club form. Strachan made some strange team selections in the opening 4 games.

Oops LOL I used to think WGS was ok as a manager . Last night he convinced me that the fat gardener would have done better . He had match winners on the bench without a doubt.

But they weren't at least six feet tall. He's an imbecile.

I like WGS tbh but the genetics schpeel just smacked of deflection tactics. Actually gutted that we failed but same old scotland.

Just saw part of his interview on BBC Scotland and it seemed like a ' couldn't give a flying fart am done! ' quip.
That's two failed campaigns - one more than most managers get - and although we are thin on the ground for star players and even when he has a gem of a left back he moves him to the right! Plus his reluctance to play the men in form - (sticking by his favourite flops) ; poor judgement in timing and selection of substitutions have cost Scotland yet again - snatching a draw from the jaws of victory.
Feel sorry for the players like Griff and Broony and KT who gave their all and clearly enjoy playing for their country, but
now they can have the consolation of getting back to club football playing for a manager that knows what he's doing and hopefully earning many more domestic honours and European experiences to savour.
