My boy missed the game last night as 9 and needed bed. Showed him the highlights and then he wanted to see Chris Sutton playing because he knows his voice. I sometimes forget just how brilliant he was.

Ha ha, I was planning on going to my local with my 8 year old daughter to watch it cos CP on a school night’s a bit much for her. I told her on Wed she’d need to have her homework done by the time I pick her up or we wouldn’t be going. As it turned out she hadn’t done it so I told her we’d be listening to it on the radio and her response was ‘I’ll do my homework in the pub! ’.

Show him the juventus 4-3 game
Sutton got a brace I think

Great player but who was the better striker - Sutton or big bad john?
Only consider time at Celtic.

Loved them both but Sutton shades it for me. My two main highlights would be his goal against Ajax in the Amsterdam Arena and the one he scored against Blackburn at Elwood. Fearsome and fearless, what a nightmare if you’re a centre half.

Big sutton could play anywhere through the middle he was just that good. For me sutton was the better of the two but big hartson can't be forgotten. 2 greats.

His second goal against Juve is sensational. Love big John but Sutton was more complete player. Total handful for defenders and like you say Amber, could play anywhere.

Sutton was the better player and better partner for Larsson but hartson was probably a better goal scorer. Personally I preferred Sutton.

Sutton all day but my god big John could play over 100 goals for our great club says it all.

Good thing about Sutton, he could play anywhere through the middle of the team. I can remember him playing centre half at ibrokes, cos bobo got sent off the week before, big bad John scored the only goal and they could have played all night and not get past Sutton. I had to have him in my all time Celtic x1 that i have seen, i have him beside Van Dyke at the back. My Team is:

Forster
Mcnamara. Van Dyke. Sutton. Tierney
Nakamura. Lennon. Mcstay. Moravcik
Larsson. Pierre VH

I had the pleasure of watching a midfield of provan murdo mcstay and Burns. I also watched Danny McGrain but he was coming to the end of his career. So many great players have played for our club.

Can't say much more about last night's performance than has already been said on here. We were immense. My personal view though is on the attitude young Ryan Christie has shown over the last couple of years. He must have had serious doubt hanging over him about if he was going to stay with us and how he was going to break through into our squad. He went out to the Dons and played brilliantly for them. It pains me to say but we actually owe Aberdeen a bit of gratitude for how they let Christie play for them.
He came back to us this Season and after a shakey start, has shown he is as good as anyone in his current role. He is a role model for young players who might be lagging a bit at their clubs to just get the head down and do their absolute best. As long as Ryan shows this form, he's a guaranteed starter.

Great post Rab. Completely agree. I’ve always been a Christie fan but must admit myself I thought he may have been moved on in the summer as I could not see where he would fit into our team. But Bhoy has he grabbed his opportunity. His work rate, effort and ability are outstanding. I believe we have a gem on our hands.

Well put, Rab. The start of the season there we had some banter about whether lads like christie would get there chance or be able to take it. Just shows you. He made himself the chance, bided his time, and took it. No looking back now. I hope Morgan will take heed and fancy him for the same sort of impact when the time is right.

Last nights performance was better than the weekend against Edinburgh's sledge hammers .

Just shows how a good manager sees the game a different way to us fans.
Both myself and Lh88 questioned why we were pulling Forrest off last night because we he was still dangerous and a great out ball.
We both mentioned Christie as an option.
Christie powers in to box and sets up the winner.
That's why Rogers gets paid the big bucks I suppose.

Didn't forrest come off after we scored the winner? Either way a fantastic result for us and I'm feeling confident that we will finish second.

Thought Christie was excellent last night always showing for the ball think he could be a big player for us this season if he keeps up his former.

I salute your ability to still think at that stage. Personally I was just shouting random gibberish by that point. By added on time I was barking and shouting about whistles. HH.

So just got round to really letting last night’s game sink in. We where phenomenal. Every single player gave absolutely everything for that win tonight, some despite doing everything they could did show that there just not up to this level for full 90 minutes at least like Lustig but I can’t slate him because I was really impressed first half. But yeah yesterday’s game was the game off our season and I’d go as far to say my favourite game under Brendan since he’s been here it was that good. KT Christie Edouard had the game off there careers imo. Forrest McGregor where also phenomenal. But yeah I want us to do the exact same to Rosenborg and show no fear and go all out. it’ll be a tough challenge to qualify thanks to the 2 away loesses but at least we can do is finish in style. But either way the Bhoys done us proud last night
And that’s all we can ask for! 🍀.

Best thing about last night was our bravery on the ball which meant we controlled large parts of the game rather than giving up possession and being ran ragged. Just shows we can complete at this level when the confidence is up. Long may it continue. Will make January very interesting indeed 😊.

Fully expecting RB Leipzig to beat RB Salzburg 1-0 on matchday 5, this result would mean even if we beat Rosenborg we would then have to beat Salzburg by minimum of 2-0 to qualify. Very possible we could fail to qualify on 12 pts.

Unfortunately the two away defeats have given us a mountain to climb and the permutations of results in the remaining games may well go against us, but another two results and performances like last night will give the players huge belief and help boost and regain confidence after those earlier, disappointing European nights.
No matter what happens in the EL, this past month has seen some of the best performances and quality of football in recent years and BR and the team have been magnificent and long may it continue.

Agree Oab, the football we are playing at the moment is a joy to watch. Just to add to permutations of outcome of group, am I right in thinking a 1-0 Leipzig win in Salzburg guarantees Salzburgs qualification and then Leipzig only need a victory at home to Rosenborg to go through themselves? Hope UEFA keep an eye on the next game in Salzburg 🤔.

I think a 'Red Bull' double is almost a formality to qualify the way the group stands and the fixtures are scheduled; so we may even prioritize the cup final against Aberdeen on Dec 2nd when we face Rosenborg away three days earlier?
The disappointment of non CL qualification and the turmoil within the club in the summer certainly took it's toll on our form and harmony, but the manager and players are really focussed and determined these days; so if we maintain the current excellent standards and clear some dead-wood and add a couple of gems in January, watch us go.

Stevie if Salzburg lose and we beat Rosenberg then a 2 nil victory for us against Salzburg would put us above them.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Nov 2018 12:15:42
I don't see Salzburg opening the door to get knocked out themselves to help anyone.

09 Nov 2018 12:26:01
If Leipzig beat Salzburg 1-0,Salzburg would beat them on head to head. Leipzig beat us on head to head. If we beat Salzburg 2-0 we beat them on head to head. We would all finish on 12 points and all won 1 out of 2 head to heads, so would probably go to goal difference, which we have a bit of catching up to do if we want to qualify. Clear as mud.

09 Nov 2018 12:54:09
I don't see Salzburg losing I think they win comfortably against Leipzig it's down to us to win away at Rosenberg. Then we could get away with a draw against Salzburg to qualify.

Fantastic performance last nigh, restored a bit of pride in Europe. We are certainly hitting some great form and long may it continue.
Wasn't at the game last night as my daughter just got out of hospital but that result put a smile on all our faces after the week we've had.
Can I also say a very big thank you to all our NHS staff. These guys deserve a pay rise.

so after tonight's excellent performance we not have a decision to make for rosenborg away. each away game Rodgers has slightly protected certain players. should we go full strength vs rosenborg or protect players like rogic and benkovic.

I believe our squad is strong enough to deal with both games but a bit of decision making will be important.
