Player going to get coverage at euros I'd like us to go for nemanja nicolic . consistant goalscorer in a league better than ours. good tourney priced out?

I wouldn't say the Polish league was better than ours but he's a very decent striker.

Great record. Were linked with him a while back. No chance of Legia doing business though surely.

Bit off topic here, just wanted to speak about Tom Boyd! Does this guy not half talk some pish by the way! Good servant for the club but what utter pish he talks! It's like listening to a mini Lawell by the way! He'll say anything to worm his way into the good books of those who run the club!

Believable7 Unbelievable2

{Ed007's Note - There's a reason that Boyd doesn't have a newspaper column and is never invited onto TV as a pundit etc - he won't tow the MSM line about what's been going on in Scottish football. I'd take Tam Boyd over the likes of Walker or Hartson any day of the week. Boyd is very vocal behind the scenes about things the fans care about, Beav, the OBFA, the SFA's incompetence and the cheating that has went on for years in Scotland.
Just be thankful we don't have a bigoted piss stained jakey like John Brown as a club ambassador!}

09 Jun 2016 12:33:43
Boyd is a proper celtic man and was a great captain that always had time for the fans.
Guys like him are great to have around our club.

09 Jun 2016 13:08:18
What's he said? Have to say I usually find Boyd spot on.

I like what boyd has to say he's 1 of few ex players I like to read what he's said. what are you referring to beav81.

Totally agree Ed true celtic man at least he sticks up for the club unlike your Charlie nicks.

09 Jun 2016 12:59:05
Well I bow to your superior knowledge ED lol. just feel like the lines he spouts are exactly what the powers at parkhead would want to say! Maybe I'm wrong bud but just feel like he says what he thinks will keep h7is bosses sweet!

I heard Tom Boyd speak recently at a function and he was actually quite critical of the way the club was being run last season, and seemed to agree with the malaise most fans thought the club was in, so although I may have agreed with you before . I certainly don't now, although when he's working directly for the club he would have to toe the party line to an extent.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 18:34:00
He said in the papers this morning that any Celtic manager beeds support, he's on the right page.

09 Jun 2016 18:53:31
Tom Boyd is one of the most honest and truthful ex Celtic players that we have . Some ex Celts and a small number of our fans feel that unless they finding fault with everything the board does and ridicule the club from top to bottom, they are going to be accused of board lickers
Tom Boyd seems to express his own views and doesn't care whether they are popular with the board or the negatitive club knockers.

Tom Boyd is a total gentleman. Lennons last CL group stage campaign, met him and his son in a restuarant in Amsterdam. Started talking to him and thanked him for his loyal service to club. Sat and spoke with me and my mates and was down to earth.

Whilst in restuarant off dam square, witnessed all the trouble going down in street. A few boys tried to get involved and he calmed them down preventing possibly more trouble.

Absolute pleasure to have had conversation with the guy. True role model.

Agree1 Disagree1

10 Jun 2016 18:47:02
Always liked tom Boyd as a player and man always backs Celtic to the hilt and isn't negative just for the sake of it or to have his name in a rag, like Sutton and Hartson.

quick question for ed . do you think BR has had a chat with RD about the trouble makers and players that never turned up for him? as far as i'm aware stokes, commons and forrest were the trouble makers, with stokes leaving and also forrest looking like he's leaving, do people think like me that he's had a chat with RD? . hope commons is next tbh,

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - All Rodgers has to do is talk to John Kennedy and he'll be able to fill him in.}

09 Jun 2016 10:11:19
NL now in charge at Hibs. should be interesting to see if he can get them up.

good appointment, be interesting to see if he raids us for a few players, i wish him all the best,

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 10:38:05
Though I didn't want him for celtic I think he is a good choice for hibs.
He has experience from celtic and Bolton
He knows the Scottish game.

Agree2 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 11:15:24
Would folk on here let him take Henderson again or do you think he's ready to step up? I'd say he's welcome to GMS, Ciftci and Allen.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 11:38:09
I don't think henderson should have went out on loan last season.
He is a cracking player that should be around our first team.
I do think it's anot avenue we can go down with some of our better young players.
But can't see GMS excepting a drop down to championship can you?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Henderson was better off at Hibs and playing regular football last season. He improved a lot more there than he would have been a bit part player with limited game time for us. I wouldn't be surprised to see Scott Allan go back to Easter Road this summer.}

09 Jun 2016 11:56:11
I do think it done him good ed but to be honest with how some of the players were playing I think henderson should have been in the team.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - But being realistic he wouldn't have been in many first team squads if he had stayed here. You're only saying that after seeing him do well at Hibs but a year in that league gave him a lot of experience in some tough and very physical matches and for me will have made him a better player than he would have been if he stayed here.
A friend of mine actually has Henderson on his 'he can GTF list' which I find a bit odd, does anyone agree with him?}

09 Jun 2016 12:13:23
Kev83, he's definitely benefitted and improved from his loans but the question is whether he's ready now or would one more season do him good? He'd be in safe hands with NL, who gave him his debut, if he did end up back at Hibs. GMS shouldn't be near the first team, he's weak and is an empty jersey for me. Ed, do you reckon loan or permanent for Allan?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - I think he will leave permanently but he isn't keen on going down south again at this time so a move back to Hibs would suit unless someone like Aberdeen fancy him - depending on if we are looking for a fee of course which could be a problem and make England his only option.}

09 Jun 2016 12:27:52
No ed I went nuts when the loan first happened.
I have been boring people about getting him in first team for a good while.
His baw over the top for gudetti goal against inter was fantastic
Can't believe anyone would want rid.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Fair play to you then bud, I'd have kept him if it had meant Allan stayed where he was or ended up elsewhere.}

09 Jun 2016 12:30:21
being at hibs and getting regular football helped him greatly last season, only a run of games in his favoured position will tell us if he's good enough for our team, wouldn't let him go just yet, there's a few mids before him that i'd put on a GTF list.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 12:34:45
Kevbhoy I think he is more than ready.

Agree0 Disagree1

09 Jun 2016 13:14:37
Said it a million times Allan was a pointless signing
We had better at the club.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 13:29:01
The thing that's great about Henderson is he knows whstever happens its for the good of his career. He's always willing to learn and if going out again on loan is to the benefit of his long term celtic career then so be it. We all want him to be in the first 11 but there is time yet we don't want him sitting on a bench being stale, losing interest and then saying negative things. Going to Hibs was great for him and will benefit us in the future. I hope Lenny takes 2 or 3 other youngters and gives them as much game time as possible.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 15:19:18
Henderson went abroad and got a bit of culture.
Then went to the championship and toughened up.
Let's give him a run in the first team and see what he can do.
Allan is a totally different proposition, let the manager assess him, then act appropriately.
As for GMS I see him as another willo flood type signing. He hasn't filled the jersey for me.

09 Jun 2016 15:44:29
Agree with every word Island Celt.

09 Jun 2016 08:47:54
I've been having a look through the rumours we've all been saying, and who we are all wanting. Now a few have said this player will bang the goals in Europe or that player is a top spl winger. We need to realise it's not the SPL we are wanting players to be excellent in. It's Europe. We need a prolific experienced European striker or a striker capable of playing at that level no potentials no youngsters. We can't hope for this player and that player who will perform well in the SPL but is inept in Europe and wonder why we can't progress. Do you all honestly think will Griggs, Jonny Hayes, Adam Rooney, Ricky lambert or John McGinn will make an instant impact or are good enough for Europe. There can't be any "he could be" or "you never know". It's all about having that player that's able to make the difference when we are playing teams like your barcas, reals or arsenals. I'm not saying we need to spend 10+ mil on a player. But we need to spend some decent money on quality and not just quantity.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

09 Jun 2016 09:29:21
Thinking like that means we would have missed out on some real big player guys like
Sutton
Agathe
Thompson
Scott McDonald
Barry Robson
Gary hooper
Kris commons
Neil Lennon and quite a few more
What had they done in Europe before celtic.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 10:31:43
So your happy to go with. Potential to good in Europe. I'm not, we've wasted millions in the last 5 years on "develoment" players. We can't moan about being knocked out of Europe and want spl standard players it's contradictory. like ed has said good players will always go where the money is, what's wrong with us giving 2/ 3 players 35-40k a week than give 7 players 15k a week?

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 10:50:28
Am not talking about potential good players.
Am talking about good player that maybe haven't played in Europe
This European class is a lot of rubbish because the true European class is well beyond what celtic can buy.
How many of our top players had been regular champions league players before they signed for celtic?
Lambert
Vaduka
Big JVH but I can't think of many more.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 11:31:29
It's a balance
Bring in someone of established quality and experience, then blend in a bit of youth.
A manager who see's potential in a player is what we want. Some transfers work some don't for a variety of reasons.
We just been rotten (on a arrange) in the striking dept recently.
If the manager picks his targets that's good enough for me.

Agree1 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 11:58:50
Exactly island celt. Balance.
I would never say buy only from Scotland but it shouldn't just be ruled out.
But to say that player should be European quality if far fetched tae.
You don't know who's going to start in Europe till they play there.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 12:35:36
Star in Europe not start*

09 Jun 2016 12:36:52
Toprig we need to sign players to beat Malmö molde Ajax etc let's leave making a difference against real, Barcelona and arsenal till another time. When we play the big hitters it's likely to be defend defend defend and hope for a lucky break or two.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 12:42:15
If you re-read what I said, I said not necessarily European players but players capable of doing a job in Europe. I honestly think one key signing wether it's a striker midfielder defender or gk could make the rest of the team tick.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 13:20:47
Toprig you must admit that the parameters you put at top would mean no
McDonald fae motherwell
Agathe fae hibs
Forster fae Newcastle (Norwich loan)
Wanyama
Hooper fae championship
Griffiths fae league one.

09 Jun 2016 17:57:23
A think we all want the best players available to us that'll walk into the first team, but if Rodgers is planning on hanging about he needs to look to the future n keep an eye on young players with potential and I think mcginn definitely falls into that category, a don't think he would get in our team but we could buy him n loan him back to hibs for a year to see how he develops. Got to be worth a punt.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2016 19:43:02
We have better than Mcginn at our club already.
Henderson
Christie
Mcgregor

Hi Ed.
Just a quick question for you. If we managed to part ways with Stokes, Scepovic, CKR and Carlton Cole, how much in wages do you think that would account for?

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - It depends. If the players never asked for a transfer they are entitled to be paid any money due in their contract although they will more than likely negotiate a settlement unless they play hardball like Boerrigter who got every last dime he was due. Cole had a clause to leave this summer but I don't know if it was his or the Club's decision to terminate it, I'd imagine CKR had he same kind of deal going by what he said to RD - he was only here until the summer.
If the Club have told Stokes he is no longer required he will be due all monies from his contract so we won't be saving anything.}}

09 Jun 2016 01:14:06
Thanks for the detailed reply, Ed. I was hoping for a less expensive answer. Cheers!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - No probs buddy.}
