Ed hearing Roberts has told his agent that he is not interested in moving to Huddersfield or west brom and if there is no future at city he is willing to take a pay cut to make the Celtic move a reality , you heard anything?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed007's Note - I've not heard anything new but he was never going to sign for either of those clubs and we know he has no future at City either. I still don't think anything will be decided until later in the window.}

09 Jul 2017 20:15:52
Him and Armstrong could do a lot worse than having a punt at the CL group stage. God knows we're due a decent draw!

ED on a site called City watch they are say deal has been done for the young French boy up to 7m for him they are reporting do you know anything?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Is that in Euros?}

09 Jul 2017 21:03:05
Even if it is euro's the exchange rate is pretty close to like for like think a euro is worth 90p.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - That's not too bad considering the state of the UK with Brexit etc. It seems to be the total cost with add-ons that could reach £7 million btw.}

09 Jul 2017 21:57:09
Take it that's the end of the Patrick Roberts chat then? Can't see another 7/ 8 million transfer in this window anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - While Roberts is still a City player we're still in the chase.}

I remain optimistic.

Paddy R Knows that he would be welcomed back with open arms. But if money is tight after our latest signing (which I doubt) it would be an amazing result! The BOSS is doing some great TX's. I like the sound of the players being quoted.

It says he will take a pay cut, that's the bit i don't understand, He is on 25 k so no need for cut, unless you believe previous posters that say he's on 75k, 25k on a 5 yr deal is a no brainer for me.

10 Jul 2017 08:57:47
Perhaps what they mean is he would perhaps come to us rather than another club who would pay him more.

Agree0 Disagree0

10 Jul 2017 08:59:44
If papers are to be believed City are paying PR 25k a week, and we were paying 5k a week. No way is he on 75k a week that's probably more than a few players in their squad.

What do people reckon, How many more signings will be brought in? I reckon another 2. Still early doors in the transfer market. And what positions will be tackled? Still looking for that right winger.

Unless big ajer is a revelation at cb we need another cb. and a striker as I think it's a case of when and not if he leaves with dembele.

09 Jul 2017 18:51:03
we need a left footed CB perhaps Rannochia from Inter could be persuaded to come but for sure we need a left sided CB.

Massively disappointed at Armstrongs hesitation and potential reluctance to re-sign. If last years success, playing under BR and CL football isn't enough for him then there needs to be serious question mark over his commitment to the club. I so hope I'm wrong and it's just technicalities with his new contract but have a bad feeling and despite his obvious ability even last year I had a slight doubt as he never at anytime said anything to express any feeling for the club. Having just watched a Tommy Burns video while as I said I'd be massively disappointed if his heart isn't in the Hoops I'd rather he went elsewhere. Ability isn't enough at a club like no other.

I would prefer him to sign a long term deal and improve further under BR but thought this would have been done months ago. Its dragging on now so if he hasn't signed within 2 weeks its time to look at offers. Its a great time to be a Celtic player and if he thinks the grass is greener at mid table EPL clubs then good luck to him he will find out like many others before him there's not many places better than Paradise. If he turns down contract offer and clubs are prepared to pay £8m that's decent for any player with 1 year remaining on contract. I'd go slap in an offer for McCarthy with that cash.

Who are the midfield starters once season up and running . or whose jersey is on a shoogly peg . Brown kouassi ntcham mgregor rogic fighting for starting places . armstrong biton sold. henderson loaned out/ sold . ajer possibly centre back/ loanesd out. and Kendai in Development squad pushing with the likes of hill and johnston. and with the pasilic rumours persisting it will be some amount of mids to keep happy.

If his head is being turned by Brighton or Southampton then obviously money is his god, because he will not win anything or play in the Champions League with either .

What about Ledley on a free? Not too fused about Armstrong to be honest. I expect, however, he just has some decent negotiators.

Loved joe and wasn't wasnt pleased when he left! Still a decent age. does he still have the same hunger but! He's made some decent money down there, is he wanting to wind down his career now?

I'll be surprised if Armstrong leaves. Reckon this is just strong negotiation. If he does leave though, as good as he is and I really do rate him, he can easily be replaced. For all we know Kouassi and Ntcham between them may have us forgetting all about him. I say the two as I think Armstrong is both a CDM and CAM. Really want him to stay but don't see it as a disaster if he leaves.

loved big Joe when he was here but you can't go back, its never the same. There is always that niggle of failure by having to return. had his time.

I was absolutely delighted when Armstrong signed but was concerned at the time that his deal was 1 year shorter than GMS although most of the fee for the double signing was for Armstrong. We should have insisted on a 4.5 year deal as opposed to the 3.5 he signed.

I hope he signs a new deal but won't be surprised to see him go. He is not a Celtic fan and has admitted himself he is not really a football fan. I remember him saying he didn't even watch the Celtic vs Sevco game to decide who Dundee United would play in the league cup final the weekend before he signed for us. It is just a job to him so I assume he is just like the rest of us who would take a 50% pay rise if we could move to a new employer who would offer us that.

SJ has become a star player under the Boss and will continue to get better IF HE STAYS. He comes across as a well spoken clever man who I think is just playing the money game and is not a CELTIC MAN. So I think he may well be on the way out. He will be hard to replace as he contributed so well in defence as well as attack. For me he was the best all round player I've seen all last season! If it is just down to money he is worth what he wants. BUT can Celtic aford him!

Not quite sure where, if any, Everton's logic comes from there. Sorry Ed, I like James, but that's just silly if true.

I was looking on the gossip part of the English part of the BBC website and seeing some of the fee's for players down there is getting way beyond a joke one that made me laugh was man u are going to pay 50 million for dier from Spurs who is a slightly above average player in my opinion and the percentage of players being home grown just inflates the prices of these average players.

watching Jermain Defoe i can't help but feel he is a player who would have been great at Celtic park. he really epitimises what the slogan more than just a club is about rest with the angels Bradley.
